Chapter 1

The moonlight streaming through our bedroom window cast silver shadows across Beau's face as he moved above me. His eyes were closed, lost in passion, and for a moment I felt that familiar warmth of our mate bond wrapping around us like silk. This was supposed to be perfect. We were supposed to be perfect.

Then he whispered it.

"Vada."

The name fell from his lips like a prayer, breathless and reverent in a way that made my blood turn to ice. My wolf, Luna, recoiled so violently inside me that I nearly gasped aloud. Every instinct screamed to confront him, to demand answers, to let my Luna authority crash down on him like a tidal wave. But something deeper, something colder, held me perfectly still.

I forced my breathing to remain steady, my body pliant beneath his. Through barely cracked eyelids, I watched his face transform from blissful abandon to stark horror as he realized what he'd done. His movements stuttered to a stop, and I could practically hear his heart hammering against his ribs.

"Saylor?" His voice cracked slightly. "Baby, are you awake?"

I let my breathing deepen, mimicking sleep with an actress's precision. Inside, Luna was pacing, her fury a living thing that wanted to tear through my skin. But I held her back with iron will, watching Beau through my lashes as he carefully extracted himself from our bed.

He stood there for long minutes, running shaking hands through his dark hair. In the moonlight, I could see the guilt written across every line of his body. He knew. He knew exactly what he'd done, and the panic radiating from him told me everything I needed to know.

Vada. The name echoed in my mind like a death knell. Vada Fisher, the Omega who always seemed to find reasons to linger near the Beta offices. Who smiled too sweetly whenever Beau was around. Who I'd dismissed as harmless because what threat could an Omega possibly pose to a Luna?

Apparently, more than I'd ever imagined.

Beau finally slipped into the bathroom, and I heard the shower turn on. Only then did I allow myself to move, sitting up in our bed that suddenly felt contaminated. My hands were steady as I reached for my phone, but inside, something fundamental had broken. Not just my heart—that was too simple. Something deeper. Something that had believed in loyalty and mate bonds and the sanctity of pack hierarchy.

I was Saylor Harvey, daughter of Alpha Bruce Harvey, Luna of the prestigious Silvermoon Pack. I had been raised to understand power, to wield it with precision. And now, as I stared at the empty space where my mate had been, I felt that power crystallizing into something sharp and deadly.

The shower was still running when dawn broke. I dressed carefully in my Luna attire—a simple but elegant dress that spoke of authority without ostentation. When Beau emerged, towel around his waist and guilt still clinging to him like cologne, I was sitting at my vanity, applying lipstick with surgical precision.

"Morning, beautiful," he said, but his voice held a nervous edge that hadn't been there yesterday.

I met his eyes in the mirror. "Good morning, Beau. You have that council meeting at nine, don't you?"

Relief flooded his features at my normal tone. "Yeah, budget reviews. Should be done by lunch."

"Perfect." I capped my lipstick and turned to face him, letting my Luna aura settle around me like armor. "I have some pack business to attend to myself."

He kissed my forehead before leaving, and I didn't flinch. But the moment his footsteps faded down the hallway, I was moving.

My Luna clearance opened every door in the pack house, digital and physical. The treasury records were kept in Alpha father's private office, but as Luna, I had access to everything. My fingers flew across the keyboard as I pulled up recent financial reports, searching for anomalies with the methodical precision of a hunter tracking prey.

There. Large withdrawals over the past three months, all authorized with Beau's Beta codes. Substantial amounts, far more than any legitimate pack expense would require. The funds had been transferred to a property management company, and from there... my breath caught.

A private residence. Purchased just outside our territory, in a secluded area where pack patrols rarely ventured. The perfect location for a secret den.

But I needed more than financial evidence. I needed the whole picture.

Dr. Elena Martinez's medical files were more heavily encrypted, but my Luna access cut through the security like a blade. I scrolled through recent patient records, my heart hammering as I searched for one name in particular.

Vada Fisher.

There it was. A pregnancy confirmation dated six weeks ago, with regular check-ups scheduled through her first trimester. The timeline matched perfectly with the property purchase, with the increased withdrawals, with everything that was now clicking into place like pieces of a deadly puzzle.

I sat back in the leather chair, staring at the evidence displayed across multiple screens. My mate—my supposedly devoted Beta—had been stealing from our pack treasury to fund a secret nest for his pregnant mistress.

The betrayal was complete. Financial theft, adultery, and the ultimate insult—creating life with another woman while lying in my bed every night.

But as I studied the documents, something unexpected happened. The crushing weight of heartbreak began to transform, crystallizing into something far more dangerous. This wasn't just personal anymore. This was about pack law, about justice, about ensuring that those who betrayed the Silvermoon Pack faced consequences that would echo through werewolf society.

I was Luna Saylor Harvey, and it was time to remind everyone exactly what that meant.
