Chapter 2

Angella had walked in earlier through the back door,  holding bags filled with photocopies of what had been taught in class during the period when arrogant Benson  skipped lectures.

She wanted to surprise everyone that morning and she made  her way through the back and that was when she heard it loud and clear from the same man she had loved her entire life.

"Mom, enough ! I can never get married to Angella."

Her mouth dropped. She stared at him, eyes wide open, tears threatening to fall.

"Uhm ...Angella, you're here?" Mrs Vale  broke the awkward silence.

"Yeah ... uhm,  I came to drop off some books for Benson since he hasn't been in class for some days" she choked  back tears.

Mrs Vale's face flushed in guilt as she turned looking at Benson, who paid little or no attention to what was happening in front of him.

"I have to leave now, Mom," Benson said as he stood up, adjusting the plain white shirt  he wore and the black tailored pants.

"Benson!!!" His father's voice echoed.  "Where do you think you're going?"

He felt guilty. He couldn't watch his son walk out on Angella like that; he respected women too much

"I have classes, Dad.  It's my final  year. I can't keep missing lectures just because uninvited guests show up during family conversations using books as excuses."

He coldly glanced at  Angella and walked out almost immediately.

"Uhm... I have to leave" Angella gave a fake smile as she attempted to walk  away.

"No sweetie,  you're going to stay for breakfast, don't mind Benson - you know how arrogant he can be," Mrs Vale said compassionately as she led Angella into the kitchen.

NYC UNIVERSITY

Bella holding  two huge suitcases, her hair packed  into a ponytail, her crystal -green eyes lit up so bright as she exited  the cab that had just dropped her off in front of the enormous gate before her.

She looked up and saw boldly written "WELCOME TO NYC"

The joy in her heart knew no bounds. She glanced left and right, everywhere was busy -new students dragging heavy suitcases,  old ones running up and down looking for their friends. They've  missed each other throughout the long holiday.

Everywhere was crazy; the air was filled with laughter, joy, and everything but pain. The smile on Bella's face never disappeared -this was her dream, and she connected with it quickly

She dragged her huge bags up the stairs not focusing on who's coming or not and just when she was about to pull it up the final stair someone's legs accidentally collided with hers and everything went tumbling. Bella, who  lacked stamina, followed and she was about roll down the stairs when someone's hands caught her waistline firmly and pulled her up.

Bella looked into his confused grey eyes, his hair obstructing his perfectly molded face. He was looking all tense and shocked but yet extremely serious, her heart beating fast and her mouth lay wild open.

At this point Bella wasn't concerned about her falling down breaking her head or dying; she was totally taken aback by how perfect someone could be.

His firm hands held onto her waistline so tightly her skin felt his smooth strong hands for some reason her body trembled

BENSON'S  POV

Benson was already boiling down from what happened in the house that morning, he had arrived at school and was getting ready to go play basketball.

"This entire mess is driving me crazy, I don't know why my dad wants me to get married so desperately" he complained to Leo, his best friend

"Come on man the old man would be retiring soon and he needs a successor YOU" Leo teased as he playfully rubbed Benson's head while they walked

"Well I guess he can actually get one I do not have to get married or something"

"Listen to me man he's your father,  but also a businessman, he knows very well if you take over you'd forget about getting married and you won't have kids who would take over the company after you've died" Leo came out plainly

"You know I ......" Benson was cut short as he accidentally collided with a young lady struggling to take her bags up the stairs and everything went falling thanks to God it was extremely fast as he grabbed her waistline pulling her over

He looked into her eyes; something caught him, he had never seen a woman possess so much determination it was rare. Who was this woman? She kept her eyes fixed on him he had never seen someone who was not intimidated by him

His gaze followed suit and landed on her waistline he grabbed them firmly but something about touching her soft skin felt off to him

His blood was running  faster than it had ever run

"Uhm...." Leo broke the silence and Benson snapped back into reality

"Can't you watch where you're going? How can you be so clumsy!?" His confused eyes lit up and turned into annoyance

"Excuse me!!" Bella snapped

"You were the one who almost killed me"

"What? Who the fuck do you think you are" he was getting really angry now no woman had ever spoken to him in such manner

"Who do you think you are?! Don't you have manners to apologize when you're wrong" Bella's face was almost catching fire

Benson scoffed "me.... Apologies?? I've never done that before and I obviously won't start with you"

"What ? So you think you've got privileges and then you can talk to a woman anyhow you want I am going to beat the devil out of you today" Bella screamed as she raised her hands to hit Benson

"Enough!!!!!!" Leo broke the show he had been enjoying for the past 2 minutes

"What is wrong with the both of you? This is a school environment for Christ's sake! You know what to end this entire misunderstanding you're both going to apologize to each other

"What??!" The both of them screamed looking at Leo who for somehow had become their judge in this crazy situation

"I am not apologizing for any reason he almost killed me so he should be the one apologizing" Bella defended.

"And I am not saying a word to her, she literally insulted me" Benson screamed

"What ? You're crazy"

"And you're a psycho"

"What is wrong with the both of you?" Leo screamed again

"You know what I will do it " he walked down the stairs, picked up the suitcase that fell down, walked up to Bella and handed it over to her.

"I'm sorry for my friend tripping on you" Leo politely said as he pulled Benson away.

Bella sighed in annoyance as she walked away.

Pinned under an overturned Porsche with a shattered leg, I watched the hitman point a suppressed pistol between my eyes. "The Ruiz family sends their regards." Before this, my reputation had already been completely destroyed by a director, a pop idol, and a reality TV star, leaving me blacklisted and universally hated. My adoptive family didn't just want me ruined; they wanted me permanently silenced to tie up loose ends. The hitman pulled the trigger, and the original Alicia died in despair, tasting only rain and blood. Until her last breath, she didn't understand. Why did the family she loved treat her like a disposable object? Why did those three men maliciously frame her and turn the world against her?
