Chapter 5

/-SAMANTHA-/

His grip on me grew tighter with each passing minute. I was sure he intended to eliminate me. His eyes hidden behind the black shades of his glasses made it worse to identify who it was.

"I want you gone," he launched his fist at me, aiming for my calves. I shut my eyes, waiting for his hit to pack a punch.

"You should be in bed by now, if I'm correct," Alpha Ryu's voice resonated in the passage.

"You don't order me around Alpha," the figure let out, smashing his fist onto Alpha Ryu.

"Maybe it's time you become a lesson to others," Alpha Ryu exhaled, grabbing the figure by the neck before smashing him onto the ground.

"You're strong, but you don't have what it takes to kill me." The figure blurted out, sending Alpha Ryu's feet back with his legs.

I could have helped, but I had to get my breath steady first. The assassin was definitely here for me, and it wasn't of lower ranking.

"Alpha Ryu, his neck. Hit his neck." I managed to converse before coughing up blood.

"How dare you, Samantha?" he let out, smashing his fist continuously onto Alpha Ryu.

"Don't talk to me, maiden, like that." Alpha Ryu pushed back, slamming his fist onto the assassin's neck.

"That's it," I stammered, watching as the assassin fell.

"Who sent you?" Alpha Ryu asked, removing his sword from its case.

"You'll never get an answer from me..." the assassin halted his words as Alpha Ryu's sword penetrated his shoulder.

"I'll ask only once more. Who sent you? Alpha Ryu turned his sword, ripping the assassin's shoulder muscles a bit.

"I'll never tell," the assassin let out, kicking Alpha Ryu’s back. He grabbed Alpha Ryu's sword, tossing it before making his escape.

"Wait here, I'll be back," Alpha Ryu grabbed his sword, chasing after the villain.

Why does the worst of things always happen to me? Am I really cursed that I couldn't help but nullify my curse with a curse?

After moments of rest, Alpha Ryu returned back. He didn't give me the luxury of time to explain; rather, he carried me in his arms to his bedroom.

He dropped me carefully on the bed, wiping my blood off my mouth.

"What were you doing in the passage at night?" his voice raised as he interrogated.

"Missy came to tell me in my room that you needed my presence in your chambers."

"And why would I need your presence in my chambers?".

"I don't know..." I tried not to blush, but my cheeks wouldn't allow it.

"That assassin is skilled in the ancient art of Tai. He's strong; you wouldn't have served if I hadn't shown up," he took off his shirt, tossing it onto his desk.

"I could have just stabbed him in the heart.".

"With your ego? Let's see what you've got. You're weak, lack fighting skills, and you're vulnerable to any attack," he growled.

Maybe if I beheaded you tonight, you wouldn't call me weak anymore. That's if you're possibly still breathing.

"You could have died out there.".

"And what do you care about? You only care about yourself according to what I've seen.".

"If I cared only about myself, then I wouldn't have saved you from that assassin."

"Maybe you thought I would be vulnerable after you saved me.".

"Don't piss me off, woman.".

"My name's Samantha."

"Don't care, and I never will."

"Let me head back to my chamber tonight. That way I wouldn't have to deal with the mighty Alpha bragging about saving my life," I stood up, moving towards the door.

"Nice try, but you're sleeping with me tonight." He shook the keys, letting the metallic sound ring in my ear.

"Give me that," I growled.

"Show me what you've got, then maybe I can reconsider my decision.".

His words made my blood boil. It reminded me of my father, who maltreated me and sent me on an impossible mission to kill this bastard right in front of me.

"You wouldn't have to do that." I stretched my hands forward, almost grabbing the keys from him.

"You really need to learn the art of seduction. It would really fit you," Alpha Ryu spoke, his hands holding me up. Just as expected, I had missed and had fallen right into his arms.

"Don't even think about it," I jumped right onto the bed. Taking the right end corner of the bed and waiting for sleep to take me away.

"What about a quickie, darling?"

BEAT IT.

All the members of the pack assembled in the royal chambers the next day. It was a tense morning, and everyone stood, waiting for Alpha Ryu to arrive before them.

Rumors had begun to spread about an intruder walking into the royal chambers and injuring the Alpha. They had suddenly become insecure, panicking at the slightest touch.

"Welcome great members of the Deadly Fang Pack!" Ryu exclaimed as he approached the corridor.

"Great Deadly Fangs," they chanted till his voice came into play.

"Last night my personal assistant was caught in a tight spot in the royal chambers. She was about to be assassinated by an unknown assassin when I walked in and stopped it. Fighting him, I realized he is a master of the art of Tai, the oldest and most fierce martial art in the history of werewolves.".

Gasps came from several angles, bringing in more tension in the members.

"Not to worry. The assassin has been injured in the shoulder and should not be able to fight for the time being. With this, I'll urge every member of the pack to report anyone with an injured shoulder", Ryu announced, a smirk on his lips as he gazed at his people.

I was about to leave when he reached out to me, asking me to come forward. I knew I had to be a dog to get him to trust me, and that was what I had to do to complete my mission.

Two steps forward, my legs slipped. I was about to fall right down when I grabbed someone's arm unconsciously.

"Ahhhh".
