Chapter 6

"Fine. Let's go have a look at this individual, shall we?"

They proceeded into the bedroom together, and once they were there, Rio turned on the main light switch so that he could have a better look. The enormous guy, who was still nude, had managed to pull himself up onto the bed in some mysterious way, and he was now lying on his back with his eyes closed.

Rio inched closer and peered over the top of the guy. "Huh," Rio said. "Oh, mother of god! He looks like..." Rio gradually shifted his head in the direction of his sister. "Ellen, are you serious? Don't you recognize this person?"

She gave him a glance in return before shrugging her shoulders.

"Just identify him for me," she demanded.

"Pleased to meet you, Carl Baker. The Carl Baker, businessman worth a billion dollars, chief executive officer of Melissa Corp., and King of Gauteng."

Ellen gaped at her brother. Her gaze turned to the bedridden guy. "Never!"

Rio frowned. "That's Carl Baker. One of the richest guy in the wrold . He pulled out his phone, tapped it, and gave it to her. "See?"

The gorgeous guy in a suit with a serious look was the same person in bed, albeit he was clean-shaven and had his hair slicked back. OMG!

"Ellen, you and him...?"

She blushed. "It... "I don't know...argh!" She grumbled. "Null! Contact his folks! Call the High Council."

"Have you ever met him? Or Liaison? It would be quicker than the Council."

"Actually." She recalled the ball. "His sister is cool. Nancy!"

She spotted the invitation between invoices and trash mail. A long-lost Lycan surfaced a few months ago. Ellen couldn't recall why she was exceptional. She was an orphan . Since she wasn't a pup, the clan hosted a welcome ball. Rio made Ellen RSVP last minute. She met the guest of honor at the ball, though she didn't realize it at first. Ellen left abruptly and couldn't say goodbye.

"Invited..." True Mate...etc. Yes! Paula. Paula's surname."

Her brother entered the name onto his phone's browser. "Nancy Paula, This webpage has her number. Is it her?"

Ellen pouted. "Call her." "I'll ask her."

Rio dialed a number and gave his sister the phone. Ellen held the receiver to her ear when the phone rang.

"Hello?" A woman responds.

"Hi.

"Nancy? Paula?"

"Yes, she answered.

" I'm not..um. Ellen Brown."

"Huh?" She hesitated. "Oh, Ellen! Remember? I'm sorry, I've been wanting to search you up, but I didn't see your name on the RSVP listso-"

She smiled. "Sorry for not saying farewell. I bailed out my brother," she said. Katie was arrested on ball night for fighting at a dive bar to defend a girl from an ex-boyfriend. Ellen shrugged. It cost her several free lunches to appease the local PD.

Nancy said, "I guess there are more important things than a ball." Nancy wanted to meet up with Ellen, but she had a family issue. "But I'll call you soon, ok?"

"Wait! Keep talking"! Ellen cried.

"Why?"

"We found him, I guess. My driveway was invaded. Your head was impaired. He's safe, but he must have moved to escape."

Stillness. Nancy requested her address. "I'm coming."

Nancy Paula-Feli remarked, "So, Barbie," as her town vehicle left The Woods, the Pretoria clan's Las Vegas residence. "Describe Ellen Brown," She rolled up the window to talk to the driver privately.

Barbie Woods, Carl's Executive Assistant and Human Liaison, halted. "I'm taking stock." Barbie was awake at midnight. Rickey, the clan's Beta, didn't want her to attend since she was 6 months pregnant. Rickey stayed behind in case of emergency.

Nancy was seven months pregnant, but no one else could go. She was the only one Suck rock knew and welcomed in. Nancy decided to call Barbie and Rickey during the 45-minute journey to Ellen's place.

"Okay, let's go. Annice Brown's daughter Ellen. Her mother died two years ago. " Barbie said.

Barbie said. "Unfortunately, that's all we know. Sun rock has no known Beta, Liaison. Since she's young and unmarried, she hasn't designated an heir."

"Why wasn't her name on the ball list? I googled RSVPs."

"She didn't RSVP to Nancy's coming-out ball, but she showed up regardless, "

Lycans worldwide lived in clans based on their locality. As Lycan puppies were uncommon, clans greeted them with an unique ritual. Even with Lycan couplings, their race had reproductive troubles, and humans had exclusively human progeny.

True Mate pairings always produced Lycan offspring, even if one parent was human.

Nancy's human mother was Lexus Bert's True Mate. Lexus died in a vehicle accident before he could introduce Nancy to the clan, so she assumed she was human and an orphan after her mother died. As a Private Investigator, she was following a mark at a Lycan nightclub when she began swaying uncontrollably. Her Lycan origins and parents were disclosed. She was greeted with a ball as Carl's half-sister and True Mate offspring.

Nancy remembered meeting her there. She was hiding in the restroom when a bunch of Lycan ladies insulted her and her mother. Ellen supported her despite not knowing her, and the two became good friends. Unfortunately, Ellen was called away before they could exchange numbers, and Nancy couldn't hunt her down. Plus, recent events diverted her from attempting to contact her buddy.

"She recalled me and revealed information she knew. "She said she discovered me online in an old PI listing,"

Nancy said. Carl reportedly arrived in her driveway inebriated and in wolf form. I wonder if he was drugged, kidnapped, and converted into a Lycan to escape."

Rickey's voice was strained "That's probably why he didn't contact Erica." Carl's bodyguard was Osborn Erica. Carl had gone to one of his favorite bars, Andres, but hadn't checked in for four hours. He headed to the pub but neither Carl nor his phone were there. Rickey went to Andres, interrogated the personnel, and learned Carl departed with a lady, returned alone, and proceeded to the lobby. The concierge last spotted Carl leaving the hotel. The hotel and Andres management wouldn't allow him study security video without a warrant. He wasn't ready to file a missing persons report.

He Chose A Fake Heir Over His True Wife Novel Cover

My husband studied the fertility report on his desk with the same cold precision he used to order executions. On our fifth anniversary, he didn't give me diamonds. He checked his Rolex and delivered the sentence that ended my life. "Your genetic profile is defective, Catarina." He didn't just ask for a divorce. He pressed a button on his intercom, and a woman walked in. She was loud, chewing gum, and wearing a dress that was too tight. "This is Aria," Alex said, his voice flat. "She is a vessel. She will carry the heir your body cannot produce." He claimed it was just business, that she would be exiled once the child was born. But at my birthday gala, when Aria tripped into a champagne tower, the truth shattered along with the glass. I was the one bleeding, a jagged shard slicing my arm. But Alex didn't look at me. He threw his body over her. He cradled his mistress, screaming for a doctor to check the baby, while I stood there with blood dripping onto the marble floor, completely invisible. I watched him give his own blood to save her in the clinic later that night. I saw the way he looked at her—not like a vessel, but like a prize. He thought I would stay. He thought I was the obedient Mafia wife who would raise his mistress's child to save the family image. So when he handed me a stack of papers to "protect the assets," he was too arrogant to read them. He didn't notice the header read *Decree of Divorce*. While he was busy buying baby clothes for a child that didn't even exist, I wiped my identity from the servers, signed the papers he blindly authorized, and boarded a one-way jet to Paris.
