Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Silence on the sea

The next morning, the soft hum of the yacht's engine blended with the sound of waves lapping against the hull.

Tori woke to sunlight spilling through the cream curtains, her body sore and tangled in the thin white sheets that still smelled faintly like him.

Jules stood shirtless by the window, a cup of black coffee in his hand, staring out at the endless stretch of blue as if it held all the answers he didn't want to give.

Neither of them said much. The air between them felt thick, heavy with the kind of silence that follows too much honesty or too much pleasure.

Tori cleared her throat softly, slipping into her clothes.

"I, um... I should probably head home," she murmured.

Jules glanced over, the corner of his mouth lifting in that lazy smirk she was beginning to recognize. "Yeah... I'll walk you out. Order a ride."

"I need a quick bath, I smell like pussy..." She said, walking into the bathroom.

Outside, the morning breeze brushed against her skin as her phone buzzed, a ride waited at the dock. Jules walked beside her, hands shoved in his pockets, quiet but protective.

When they reached the car, she opened the door and looked at him.

"So... this is goodbye?" she asked lightly.

"Not really," he said, his voice low and teasing. "I'll call you tonight. Maybe even come pick you up."

She smiled, hopeful. "I'll hold you to that."

He grinned, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her cheek before watching her leave.

By the time Tori got home, she was floating on air.

Her roommate, Ciara, sat on the couch, painting her nails blood red. She glanced up, her expression twisting into a half frown.

"Look who finally decided to come home," Ciara said flatly. "I heard this is your first time in town and you're already whoring around."

Tori ignored the tone. She was too happy for drama.

She hummed under her breath, heading straight for a hot bath. Steam filled the bathroom as she sank into the water, the memory of Jules's hands replaying in her mind. She moaned softly, still imagining his dick in her pussy.

Afterward, she threw on a robe, ordered pizza, and curled up in front of the TV. Every few minutes, she checked her phone.

Nothing yet.

"He's probably busy..." She said to herself, softly.

Two hours passed. Then three.

Five hours later, the pizza box was empty and her eyelids were heavy. Still no call, no text.

She dozed off with her phone clutched to her chest.

***

When she woke, the room was dark. Her heart jumped, maybe she had missed it. She grabbed her phone.

No missed calls.

No messages.

His last seen: that morning.

Her stomach twisted. She typed, deleted, and retyped before finally sending a quick message.

"Hey, Jules."

No reply came.

***

Four weeks later.

His last seen still read four weeks ago.

No texts. No calls. No explanations. Just silence.

Tori's eyes were swollen from crying. Her skin burned with fever, her heart heavy with confusion and hurt.

A text came in from her father.

Dad:

I've sent you money. Stay low until I say otherwise. You're doing a good job.

She stared at the screen, tears blurring the words.

Stay low? For how long?

Tossing the phone across the bed, she buried her face in the pillow, sobbing quietly. Her body was weak, her emotions shattered.

Ciara's voice was annoyingly loud as she walked in, holding a plastic bag of meds.

"Girl, you've been crying for weeks. Enough already."

"I can't stop thinking about him," Tori whispered, her voice breaking. "He just disappeared, Ciara. No goodbye, no nothing. I miss him."

Ciara rolled her eyes, pulling out the paracetamol. "Welcome to Victoria Island, babe. Every man here is a scam, a scum, or both. Say, I hook you up with a real bad ass nigga that's gon' still pay you good money for having fun with him."

Tori gave a broken laugh through her tears. "I don't want just any man. I want Jules."

Ciara snorted. "Then you're officially doomed."

Tori licked her lips. "Who's gon' call me Charmy?"

Ciara sighed, shaking her head. "Is this what brought you to Oniro? Girl, how are you going to make money if all you think about is Jules? How are you even able to pay rent because you haven't left this house in four weeks!"

"What money?" Tori raised her head to look at her. "Make what money?"

"You didn't come here to hustle?" Ciara couldn't hide the shock in her. "Girl quit playing with me, everyone in Oniro is hustling...I guess you got a rich sugar daddy that's bank rolling you...whatever, just take your meds and eat. Stop thinking about that nigga, for real."

Tori laid back, pouting. "I still remember what he smells like. I miss laying in his arms and running my fingers down his hairy sexy chest." She held the pillow tighter. "I miss Jules..."

"It was just one night!" Ciara shook her head. "No you don't miss him, you just miss dick. And bitch I'm telling you, I could get you a rich dick...for real though. Big rich dick...just how you love it."

"If you really want to help me, get me Jules." Tori closed her eyes, turning to face the other side of the room.
