Chapter 4

Dahlia invincibly feels there's a need to run away from her own emotions.

She's afraid of her own heart - it's always asking for more that it drains anyone who offers theirs.

Carter stares at her like she's the only person he loathes - full of shame, disgust, and rage. She doesn't know why she was hurt by the way he looked at her. Sure, he still is, but his stare is not the same anymore. His coldness crumpled her like a thin paper soaked in tears. Everything sure has changed now.

Dahlia  tried to calm herself down. She quickly averted her eyes from him and ignored what he said. She didn't have to explain anything to him. She didn't have to say or ask him. It never entered her mind that they would meet again after so many years.

What is he doing here?

Dahlia walked straight and turned her back on Carter. But even before she could go far enough, he quickly and violently grabbed her wrist and pushed her with all his might, causing her to lean against the car there.

Dahlia winced when she felt the pain in her back then realized with hindsight that this should be his car. He seems to have anticipated that she would leave by the back door, and then come here and wait for her to bring herself into his grasp..

"What are you doing?!" Dahlia shouted at him and tried to get out of Carter's grip but it was just too tight.

When she looked up at him, she was surprised because he was too tall for her. There she saw the flame in his eyes and he seemed to be shivering. His jaw clenched and met her gaze with his burning eyes.

"You didn't answer my question," Carter answered her coldly.

Dahlia frowned and looked away from him again. With him so close to her, she could already smell the mixture of wine and his perfume. Her heart is pounding for no apparent reason.

"Get off me, crazy jerk!"

"We haven't seen each other for three years. Don't you have anything to say to me? Running away is still your favorite thing to do, huh," he said.

"What are you talking about? I don't even know you," she told him emphatically and almost choked because of the extreme frustration she felt.

This guy really knows how to corner her.

Carter grins. She felt, even more, the tightness of his hold on her.

"I don't think you have amnesia based on how you responded to my kiss earlier. Or do I need to remind you who I am?" He told her seemed threatening, so she looked at him again.

"I don't have anything to say to a stranger. Get off me!" Dahlia coldly replied to him.

But she guessed she did it wrong because it only made him even angrier.

Carter attacked her for a kiss again, and this time, she felt more of his anger at the kiss he was giving her. She can already taste the rusty taste on his lips. He even bit her lip!

Dahlia clenched her teeth tightly. This behavior seemed to successfully stop him. He gave up her lips and began to kiss along my cheek all the way to her neck.

This finally made her relax for a moment. But the next second, she found she was wrong. Carter suddenly lifted the skirt she was wearing!

Dahlia felt his warm hand caressing my thigh upwards, rubbed her buttocks across her underwear, and even wanted to stretch his fingers into her underwear.

"Carter, are you crazy!" Dahlia couldn't help shouted.

Then she heard him chuckling virtuously. He took the opportunity to kiss her again. This time he succeeded.

"Now you finally remember who I am." He uttered between their kisses.

Dahlia's eyes widened with surprise at his impudence and unbridled behavior.

She can still hear his moan and heavy breathing. Obviously, his sexual desire was not satisfied, and she could still feel his fiery male genitals pressing against her abdomen, which made her shiver.

But strangely, he didn't continue. Instead, he gasped and tried to calm down. He even helped her tidy up her dress, which he had crumpled.

Still pressing Dahlia against the door, Carter buttoned her jacket and ran his fingers through her tousled hair, appreciating her blushing face with satisfaction.

She felt like he was treating her like a Barbie doll he had been longing for for a long time. All his actions implied a strong desire for possession and domination.

"This time, you're not going anywhere, Dahlia." Carter said, and quickly picked her up and got her into his car.

"You bastard, let me out of here!"

Dahlia was shoved into the passenger seat of Carter's car, then watched as he locked the door and trapped her. She could only bang on the window to get his attention.

But he completely ignored her, walked around to pick up her bag on the ground, and then calmly sat in the driver's seat, then quickly started the engine.

"So, where are you taking me? You're just a guest of Wild Rover. I'm off duty now. You have no right to take me away."

Dahlia hurriedly took the bag thrown by him and held her bag tightly in her arms, as if this would bring her a sense of security.

"Fasten your seat belt." Carter said, and then kept looking at the road without replying to any of her questions.

"Shit." Dahlia hissed.

She knew he would neither tell her where he was taking her nor let her off. She can only turn her head and stare at the gradually strange street outside the window.

Carter has abandoned her for three years. Wasn't he engaged to Claire? Why did him suddenly appear in front of her now? What was his purpose?

A lot of problems entangled in her heart.

A few moments of silence passed, and Dahlia just noticed the car stop in front of a villa. She glanced at Carter suspiciously, but he only silently turned off the engine, got out of the car, walked over and opened the door for her.

"Walk by yourself, or I'll just carry you in."

Dahlia knew she couldn't resist Carter. So she could only pretend to have a cold face to cover up her weakness.

"Don't touch me. I can go by myself."

Carter just sneered.

The villa looks a bit old, but the decoration is in the Baroque style that she likes, and the rooms are very clean. She was guessing this is one of his more frequent residences.

"We need to talk." Dahlia stood in the hall with her hands around her chest.

"Talk about what?" Carter pressed her step by step, "About how you blow a man's dick in a bunny girl's clothes?"

Dahlia blushed angrily! She never thought he would insult her with such words.

"Carter Anderson! I'm talking to you seriously! I think we've broken up. You have no right to criticize my behavior."

"Do you know what I was thinking when I saw you tonight? I thought, I should have fucked this bunny girl. I should have fucked you three years ago, Dahlia. How many men have you slept with over the years? Are you relying on your body to attract so many guests?"

"W... What?" Dahlia couldn't believe what she had heard.

The burning anger in Carter's eyes is much more visible. She can also see strong desire along with that anger. It was on fire and nothing seemed to be able to stop him.

Instead of answering her, he quickly stepped on her and then pressed her on the sofa. Carter attacked Dahlia again with a violent and painful kiss. Meanwhile, she felt him constantly tearing her skirt.

Dahlia hurriedly tried to save her skirt from him, but it was all in vain. He easily liberated her breasts from her bra, then buried his head in her chest and began to taste her nipples with relish.

She felt a strange feeling coming from her chest and couldn't help crying out in shame.

Suddenly, Dahlia no longer recognizes who this man is in front of her.

This is not Carter anymore. This is no longer the man she once knew and loved. He looks like a mad ape-more of a beast rather.

Dahlia felt disgusted by what Carter did and her mind can't accept that because he himself is doing this kind of thing to her. It's because Carter's image to her is calm and gentle. She carries that to this day. He's everyone's ideal guy and she was so lucky when she found out he likes her and he loves her so much.

But everything has shattered down, and it drains her.

The disgust and shame Dahlia felt for herself because of what those people did to her at the bar seemed to overwhelm him.

She feels like her heart is slowly burning in pain.

She feels like drowning.

All this feeling reached its peak when Carter licked and kissed her private part all the way down her abdomen.

She wanted to kick him away from her but he easily grabbed her ankle. Carter grabbed her ankle, then separated her legs, and showed everything about her in front of his eyes.

"W-what are you going to do? Carter! Are you crazy!?" Dahlia cried, in despair.

"I'm crazy, Dahlia," Carter whispered weakly but scary. "Yes, I'm crazy and you caused all of this."

Her Second Chance At Love Novel Cover

The passenger window bloomed into a spiderweb of cracks, and one razor-sharp sliver drew a searing, hot line across Amelia Hayes’s cheek. "Help me," she choked into the phone, but her husband, Ethan Caldwell, snapped: "Amelia, for God's sake, I'm in a meeting." A percussive blow, then a wave of encroaching silence. She awoke not on the hard-packed asphalt beside her car, but in her opulent master bedroom, the calendar marking three months after her wedding. Three months into a marriage that had already begun its slow work of killing her. Ethan stood by the window, his voice softening, "Yes, Jessica, tonight sounds perfect." Jessica Thorne, his true love, the shadow over Amelia's first life. The customary ache that had long occupied the space beneath her ribs did not flare, but rather receded, leaving behind a preternatural stillness—a silence so profound she could count the heavy, deliberate beats of the pulse in her wrist. For seven miserable years, she had given Ethan a desperate, unyielding devotion. She had endured his glacial distance, his brazen affairs, his emotional abuse, all for a flicker of his attention. She had become a shell, a caricature, ridiculed by Ethan's circle and condescended to by his family. The profound injustice, the sheer blindness of his indifference, was a bitter pill. The familiar, constricting tightness that had long defined her chest had vanished. In its place was a peculiar and unnerving lightness, as if some vital, heavy organ had been neatly excised, leaving behind a cavity that no longer knew how to ache. She recalled the final indignity from that first life: a vulgar scene at a gala involving Eleanor’s ashes. Ethan’s palm had struck her shoulder with such force that she stumbled two full steps backward; before her skull met the unyielding wall, she registered the faint, sickening pop of a vertebra in her own neck, his accusations echoing: "You are a disgrace." He comforted Jessica while Amelia's head reeled from the impact. That was the final insult. There were no tears, nor any tremor of rage. Her fingertips, which had so often trembled, now rested upon her knees with the weight and stillness of poured lead. She delivered a small velvet box to his penthouse. Inside: the wedding ring and a divorce decree. "I require you," she stated, her voice a thing of newfound clarity, "to be removed from my life. Permanently." She was reborn to be free.
