Chapter 9

AVA

I sat on my usual spot in geometry class, I watched the teacher's lips move but I wasn't paying attention to what she was teaching. I stared down at my phone which was in between my book, the message on it very clear.

“Stay away from Xavier, he is not what he seems.”

The words rang again in my ear. Whoever sent this, knew I was with Xavier yesterday and I could swear I never told anyone about my secret. Does it mean I was being watched?, I questioned myself but I couldn't find a perfect answer.

“Ava can you hear me?” I lifted up my head and looked around, someone was calling but where?

“If you can hear me Ava, meet me at the old school building, third floor. And come alone.” The voice said, it's voice laced with command.

If the person has spoken to me through the mind, does it mean that the person is also a wolf, could be Xavier?

I had lots of questions that needed to be answered and there was someone who was willing to explain.

I took deep breaths, and gently stood up.

“Yes, Ava?” The teacher asked.

“Can I use the restroom?”

“Sure.” That was the only answer I needed before I scurried out of the classroom, trying hard not to seem suspicious.

_______________

I stood, staring at the big abandoned school building. There were many stories surrounding the old building but no one knew the exact reason why it was abandoned but I could easily guess that since they have a new building, they had to move there.

I rubbed my sweaty palms against eachother and took the first step, then the second and before I knew it, I was standing inside the building. The smell of old wood and rusted iron filled the air.

I walked up to the third floor as quietly as possible not to make any noise that would alert the security.

I stared around the place, but there was no one there.

“Hello?” I called but it came out as a whisper.

First, I heard heavy footsteps and then the scent hit my nose almost too hard.

Basil.

I've perceived the scent somewhere but I couldn't place my head on where I've scented it.

“Hello Ava.” I tilted my head almost immediately at the sound of the voice and almost lost myself.

Mr. Logan.

He stood tall and handsome with a perfectly sculptured face, he had a huge smile plastered on his face.

“M...Mr Logan.” I whispered and his smile widened.

He began to walk towards me with gentle strides, his gaze only on me.

He sculpted my face into his palm and stared so hard that I could feel my inner self boiling.

“You reek of him.” He left my face and stood properly, his gaze never leaving me.

I really wanted to say something but I could only open my mouth but nothing would come out.

“Ava.” He called and I could only hum a response. “You don't need to be scared of your mate you know?”

I lifted my face to meet his, my eyes popping out from it's socket.

“I knew you were my mate Ava and that was why I came running to you.” his voice low but intimate. “I know you felt it too?”

Why was this man talking so softly to me, why was he so handsome. Yes I felt he was my mate but I couldn't just accept it. I didn't want to accept the fact that I was a fucking werewolf.

I heard him chuckle and I stared at him, my brows twitched.

“You’re really keeping your Alpha waiting Ava.” He called in a very deep husky voice and I was really melting at his words.

“How do I believe you?” I asked, finally finding my voice.

He leaned closer, almost too close that I could feel his breath on me.

“You know it.” he whispered and pulled back, his hands in his pocket.

“You should stay away from Xavier.” He warned, his voice coming out a little bit sharp. “I hate sharing what's mine.”

I wanted to tell him that I was fated to Xavier as well but I don't know much about this man and I can't just go about trusting him.

He walked towards me again, cuppled my chin, “I’ll see you again.” He planted a light kiss on my forehead before disappearing.

I stood still, unable to process what had just happened. My legs moved shakily as I tried to walk, I sat down on the bare floor.

Logan Moon just kissed me. I whispered and touched my forehead, I felt a smile appearing on my face.

______________

School was over and I was searching for Caleb. I didn't come back to class after my encounter with Logan, I had stayed back at the building but when I got out, I realised that school was over and the building was almost empty. I dialed Caleb's line again and he answered.

“Where the hell are you?” I questioned, my voice rising.

“Home.” he answered, almost too casually.

“What do you mean home, Caleb I'm still at school?” I screamed into my phone.

“I texted you and also called but you weren't going through so I left.”

I hung up on the phone and stared at his messages.

I had really missed his messages and now, I'll be walking home, alone.

I walked through the streets, wondering how I had missed his messages and it dawned on me that I had switched off my phone after leaving the class. I sighed and continued walking.

As I curved into the lonely street, I noticed that I was being followed. I hastened my steps but it seems the stranger was on it too.

I began to run, I ran so fast but the stranger was running behind me. I continued to run and didn't see a speeding truck ahead and just as it was about to hit me, I felt myself being lifted off the ground.

I bent down after the stranger had dropped on me, I was trying to catch my breath and when I looked to see who my saviour was, I stood, my mouth parted open. Beads of sweat began to form on my head.

“You really are a fast runner.” He smiled.

Xavier had been the one following me and now he had just saved me. I shifted away from him and he twitched his brows.

“Are you alright?” his voice calm as he spoke.

“Why are you here?” I asked, my voice shaking. I was still trying to breathe properly.

“We need to talk, Ava.”
