Chapter 3

Valerie who could only stay in the room, without someone to talk to. Valerie could only stare at the night sky in the room, the bedroom window was tightly closed, making Valerie feel even more in a luxurious prison cage.

Valerie thought of a way to get away from James, but there was nothing she could think of at the moment, everything seemed deadlocked. No one could be contacted, no one could help him. Even Valerie doesn't know where she is now.

Vale sat on a sofa with a blank look at the sky above decorated with stars, as if laughing at his sad self, hurt by a fate that was never on his side. Valerie finds out about James, a successful CEO with billions in assets, and has rumors that James is a Casanova man who has many women by his side.

Hearing rumors about James made Vale smile sadly. "It's not a rumor, in fact it's a fact. It's just that James is much worse than they know."

Valerie was very curious, how could Lukas have a debt to James, who knows what Lukas had done?

James returned and saw Valerie sitting on the sofa with her blank gaze. James' flat gaze at Vale now turned sharp, angry to see that the food Anna had given him had not been touched at all.

"Why don't you eat the food?" James asked, his voice heavy and slightly raised, as if explaining that he was annoyed.

Valerie didn't answer James' question, making the man even angrier, he stepped up with quick steps, pulling the woman into his arms. "I asked, you didn't answer, don't you understand my language?!"

"Are you human? I don't think so, you don't have a heart, James!" Valerie replied not afraid when she looked directly at James' eyes which were angry with her. "After all... what do you care, if I die, won't you still be fine?"

Hearing that made James laugh and let go of his hug. "That's right, I'll be fine, even if you die! However, you have to remember, you are mine, you are not allowed to die until I am satisfied playing with you!"

Again, James did that to her, Valerie didn't rebel, he let James play with her body. Tears dripped without Valerie realizing it. He felt very humiliated, broken and dirty.

After being satisfied, James stood straightening his clothes, he looked at Valerie's body which was still plain without clothes. However, unlike Valerie's eyes on him, he seemed to really hate James, if possible, Valerie would even want to kill him. However, all of that was only his weak determination. Valerie does not have the power to avenge James, destroying his life, just as James destroyed her.

"You have to take good care of yourself, you even have to start being nice to me, if I'm happy, you will get a lot of benefits from me," said James as if he wanted Valerie to accept his destiny, to be one of his mistresses.

"I'd better die just kill me, James!" Valerie hissed.

Valerie's words made James angry. James strangled Valerie's neck, his eyes turned sharp red, Valerie seemed to challenge him to finish his life immediately.

Valeria, he was not afraid, but instead he settled James' face with a flat gaze, as if waiting for him to be actually killed by James.

"Kill... I..." said Valerie, her breath choking.

James strengthened his hand grip on Valeria, but then he let go. Pulling Valerie's body pushed her to the floor, hitting her, then listening to her.

"Arghtt..." Valerie screams pain.

But hearing the scream made James laugh, as if Valerie's sick scream was a beautiful song for him.

"Is this what you want? Just dreaming that you could die easily, I won't let you die, Valerie. Once again you challenge me, you will get more than this!"

James left Valerie in pain, her body covered in bruises from James' blow. Valerie sobbed, her tears burst. Why did this bad fate have to happen to him?

Valerie looked at the glass filled with water on the table close to him, she stood up slowly, took the glass and broke it.

Valerie took the broken glass, sobbed again, not knowing whether what she was going to do was right or not, she just didn't want to continue living in the confines of a cruel man like James. Even though it had only been a day, he had already been in a year of cruel hell.

If Valerie died this time, he hoped that no other woman would suffer the same fate as him. But on the contrary, if he had the chance to live, he promised to shatter those who had hurt him to pieces, repaying their treatment with great cruelty, like what James had done to him.

"What's the point of me living, if I'm just a lowly woman?" Valerie laughed sadly at her miserable life, no one would worry about her, and was one of the strong reasons Valerie ended her life.

Valerie scratched the sharp broken glass on her arm, fresh blood flowing down her veins. Valerie closed her eyes, she was ready to die, and free from her life despised by James' touch.

Valerie gave up on her life...

Reborn Heiress: Revenge On My Ruthless Ex Novel Cover

I was dying in a rusted warehouse, paralyzed in a wheelchair while the man I loved and my own stepsister watched with smiles on their faces. The air smelled of old oil and damp concrete, and my vision was fading into a milky haze. Dillon, the man I’d sacrificed everything for, smoothed his custom suit and pulled out a syringe filled with a clear, lethal neurotoxin. Beside him, my stepsister Bianca toyed with my mother’s sapphire ring—the one they’d just pried off my hand while I was too weak to even make a fist. She leaned in and whispered that my father’s trust fund was already offshore and that they’d sent my husband, Kade, to the wrong coordinates to ensure he’d only find my corpse. Dillon slid the needle into my vein with the chilling efficiency of a man who had done this before. "This will stop your heart in thirty seconds," he said, sounding as bored as if he were explaining a tax form. Ice flooded my chest, and my lungs seized, fighting for oxygen that wasn't there. As the warehouse lights blurred into white streaks, an explosion echoed in the distance. Kade had come for me, but he was too late. I died staring at the ceiling, my heart giving one last violent kick of pure, unadulterated hatred. I had been such a fool, believing Dillon’s lies and running away from the only man who actually cared for me. I died with a single thought: if I ever get another chance, I will drag you both to hell with me. Then, there was nothing. And then, there was air. I sat up gasping, my silk pajamas drenched in cold sweat. The rusted beams were gone, replaced by a vaulted ceiling and the glittering Manhattan skyline. I grabbed the digital clock on the nightstand—it was five years ago, the exact night I first tried to run away with Dillon. The bedroom door slammed against the wall, and Kade Mullen stood in the doorway, looking dangerous, furious, and very much alive. I looked at my shaking hands, then at the man I had once hated. This time, I wasn't going to run. I was going to make sure Dillon and Bianca lost everything.
