Chapter 7

Anastasia spent the rest of the day reading some books about the pack and how it runs.

Whilst she was shuffling through the documents, tidying it up after reading everything, Logan walked in. “Time for dinner,” he grunted and lifted her off the floor, not giving the omega enough time to not only see him come over with his intentions clear but also to be picked up.

She didn't like this alpha all that much. He looked mean and barely spoke. But he was her other mate, so she hoped she could get used to this alpha soon.

She wanted to be fond of this alpha, just like she was of Leo. Both of their touches were not forceful and made her turn into putty immediately. Logan’s hold felt firmer and stronger, but less like he was trying to stop her from running away, and more like he wanted to keep her safe.

The alpha’s attitude still seemed gruff, just like all the ones that had wronged her in the past. But she hoped it wasn't true. He shared the same DNA as the sweetest alpha she’d met, so that accounted for something.

“Do omegas get carried around all the time in this pack?” Anastasia asked absentmindedly as they walked through the large halls. “No, just you,” the alpha replied curtly.

His answers were always so short, leaving no room for conversations. The omega had always been very chatty, so such an attitude made her lip curl slightly in distaste “So it's a Luna thing?” She questioned again. She hadn't seen any omegas get carried around in the market at all.

“No, I like carrying you,” Logan’s reply was short and stubby again, getting straight to the point. Anastasia rolled her eyes internally, why couldn't he speak more? She had noticed that Logan was the one mostly carrying her and she sat on Leo’s lap more often.

It was like they had a little agreement between them. “What if I don't like being carried,” she felt like being a bit childish, the alpha’s lack of emotions made her eager to push his buttons.

Logan stopped walking and looked at her for a second. To her surprise, she was slowly placed on the ground, a hand on her back to make sure she was properly upright.

“Then tell us,” Logan said plainly, waiting for her to start walking. “I didn't say I didn't like it,” Anastasia grumbled as she stomped down the hall to where the dining room was her lips turned down into a pout, lips plumped up.

After a few strides, Logan came in front of her and with one arm lifted her and slung her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, her body upside down.

Anastasia squealed at the new position, never having been carried like this before. Her hair was everywhere, making her look stupid.

“You walk slow, is another reason why. You have tiny legs,” Logan resumed his usual fast pace as he walked with the omega squirming behind him. “I don't like being carried like this,”

Anastasia whined, feeling insulted by the comment but it was true, she was significantly shorter than him, the alpha did not respond.

So much so for telling him, she crossed her arms and carried on pouting, realizing that they were walking quite far away at this point, now outside. She didn't get the time to question Logan because she was being put down carefully and placed on a bench in the middle of the courtyard.

“It was a nice day so dinner will be outside,” Leo said cheerily in front of her, Logan’s somber face next to him being a comical contrast. “We can watch the sunset.” Anastasia nodded enthusiastically, happy that the other alpha was, here again, Logan was a little annoying. Watching the sunset was nice, the slow departure of the sun is a nice backdrop to their dinner.

The weather was slightly windy but ultimately perfect. Her previous annoyance completely dissipated as she happily munched on the food. This pack seemed to have different wild animals to hers, and a completely different palette as well.

The meals were more meat and vegetable-oriented, with few grains like she was used to eating. Anastasia preferred this though, bread and broth got boring after a while.

Even the fruits were nicer, she didn't realize they had such nice harvests. Her old pack had drier lands, the sun a constant enigma.

However, the land surrounding the pack and its borders was all green and lively, with dense forests everywhere.

There was more character in the area than in this old territory.

Anastasia averted her gaze away from the sunset whilst the two alphas were in a hushed conversation about pack matters.

She couldn't help but stare at their faces. The soft orange light illuminated their features, softening their expressions but not hiding the sharpness of their face.

They were handsome, otherworldly, every compliment you could give to an alpha. They both had their hair completely out of their face, Leo’s hair was brushed back and Logan had tied his back. It only made their beauty even more apparent.

Anastasia would never get over how different their auras were even though their faces were so identical, the differences in their personalities clear from the first glance. Even with her shallow annoyances with one of them, she couldn't deny that she indeed felt lucky with this fate, even if it didn't end up completely perfect in the end. What she had right now was better than she ever thought she’d get, and that was what was motivating her to stay.

Even if that was not the case, she didn't think she could ever leave the two alphas. It had barely been 36 hours in their presence and she couldn't imagine not being here in this peaceful environment.

****************

She had just freshened up and was ready to climb into bed when she saw Logan lounging on one side of the bed, waiting for her.

Leo had entered the bathroom right after her. She huffed and turned her nose up, making a point to walk to the other side and turn her back to the alpha, positioning herself at the very edge of the bed.

The omega wasn't that annoyed at the alpha, she just hated how she struggled to understand him as quickly as she did with his brother. Still, his stoic expression made her want to push and pull to see his limits.

The consequences may be dire but Anastasia had never been good with foresight. The alpha let out an amused chuckle, “you're mad because I teased you,” he stated. Anastasia was quite surprised at how quickly the alpha figured her out, he was strangely perceptive. It made her even more displeased. “Nope, it's because I don't like you.

At all,” she sounded so childish but she didn't care, hopefully, the alpha got the memo. He didn't. “Well I love you so it cancels out,” she heard the voice say behind him.

She froze. What? The only person who uttered those words had been her brother, and it was something she couldn't say.

They were related for god's sake. Love had always seemed unattainable to her, yet this gruff alpha said it so plainly like he was stating the weather condition.

She didn't know whether to be offended By the word to be used so lightly after mere hours of contact or glad that someone said that to her. A huge part of her hated Logan for saying it, it wasn't something she took lightly, but the alpha didn't seem like the type to joke around at all.

That was Leo. It made her even more troubled. She was too caught up in what was just said to realize that the bed was dipping near him.

Two hands grabbed her and pulled her back onto a firm chest. “Hey,” she called out, finally snapping back from her trance.

How could he say something like that so casually? He knew they had waited a long time for him but they barely knew him.

Love was not even in the equation yet “Sleep,” Logan whispered, nosing her scent gland. The action made Her turn into putty, relaxing completely into his hold, even moving closer.

She did not like this alpha at all, him and his dirty tactics. A hand stroked his back softly, feeling so gentle and lovely.

“You're mean, you can't do this. It's foul play,” she whined as she nuzzled the alpha back, her eyes closed in bliss. Her omega was a traitor, submitting to the enemy so easily. “Sleep, love,” was the last thing she heard. She fell asleep before Leo returned.

For ten years, I lived for Dante Moretti. I waited for my eighteenth birthday, knowing that the Alpha of the Dark Nebula was my fated mate. But when the day finally came, he didn't claim me. He brought Isabella home instead. A warrior. A political asset. "Welcome home, my future Luna," he announced to the pack, shattering my heart in front of everyone. I was just the orphan girl who couldn't Shift. A liability. To ensure I knew my place, Isabella offered me a "gift." A collar made of pure silver. To a human, it is jewelry. To a wolf, it is acid. When she locked it around my neck, the metal sizzled. The smell of my own burning flesh filled the room. I fell to my knees, screaming, looking at Dante with tears in my eyes. I begged him to stop her. But he just looked at me, his face a mask of cold logic. "Wear it," he commanded, ignoring the smoke rising from my skin. "Consider it discipline. If you take it off, you leave the Pack." He thought he was protecting me. He thought making me look weak would save me from his enemies. He didn't realize he was killing the girl who loved him. That night, I didn't just take off the collar. I closed my eyes, found the golden thread of our Mate Bond in my mind, and snapped it in half. Dante collapsed in the hallway, clutching his chest in agony as he felt our connection die. "What did you do?" he whispered into the void. "I set you free, Alpha," I said. Then I ran into the storm. He thought I was a defenseless human. He didn't know I was the lost daughter of the Royal White Wolf bloodline. And when I returned, I wouldn't be kneeling.
