My Husband Forced Me To Donate My Bone Marrow

Six months after I died during childbirth, my husband came looking for me, demanding I terminate the pregnancy so I could donate my bone marrow to his idealized love. I was the only match. My mother told him, "My daughter has already passed away." With a face full of disdain, my husband retorted, "I ignored for six months and now she's throwing a tantrum, even faking her death! Pass this message to her. Even if she gives birth, I won't spare her a glance! If she doesn't come forward to donate bone marrow within three days, don't blame me for cutting off your medical expenses!" What he didn't know was that after my death, my mother had already given up on her cancer treatment. She held on just to see his remorse at my grave.

Chapter 1

Six months after I died during childbirth, my husband sought me out, demanding I terminate my pregnancy to donate bone marrow to his beloved.

I was the only compatible donor.

My mother told him, "Nan Nan has already passed away."

With a look of disdain, my husband retorted, "Ignoring her for six months, and now she's pretending to be dead just to spite me!"

"Let Zhou Nan know, " he continued, "even if she gives birth to that illegitimate child, I won't spare her a glance!"

"If she doesn't come forward to donate marrow within three days, I won't hesitate to stop paying for your medical bills, elderly woman!"

What he didn't know was that after my death, my mother had already given up on her cancer treatment.

She held on just to see him kneeling at my grave, filled with regret.

In the cold, dim parking garage, my mother was slapped to the ground by Lu Jingchuan.

He lowered his head, staring coldly at her as she writhed in pain. "I told you to make Zhou Nan come out."

"Otherwise, I'll make you pay with your life!"

My mother, weakened by cancer, trembled with the despair of someone on the brink of death.

Lu Jingchuan had ignored me for half a year, only remembering me now because his precious Wan Wan was gravely ill.

My mother kept telling him, "Nan Nan is already dead."

Lu Jingchuan refused to believe her, dragging my mother into the garage and assaulting her.

"Bad pennies always turn up. How could that woman be dead?"

"Six months away and now she's improved her act, pretending to be dead!"

"Wan Wan is so sick she can't get out of bed. I have no time for games with that awful woman! Get her out here now!"

Another kick landed on my mother's stomach, making her curl up and moan in agony.

I rushed forward like a madwoman, shielding my mother, begging Lu Jingchuan for mercy.

But he only cursed under his breath, "Zhou Nan. Aren't you the one who cares most about your mother? She's like this, and you still won't come out!"

My heart ached, and tears flowed helplessly.

Because... I was already dead.

I died six months ago in the hospital.

Lu Jingchuan was a student my father sponsored.

When we were together, everyone said we were a perfect match.

My father trusted him enough to hand over the company to him.

In just a few short years, the Zhou family fell into his hands, and my father was driven to suicide.

As for me, his pregnant wife, I died in labor one night when he rushed off to see his first love.

Now, he was pulling my mother's hair, dunking her head in water.

Lu Jingchuan's voice was icy. "I didn't want to go this far, but blame Zhou Nan."

"Wan Wan ended up like this because of her; it's her fault, and she should pay for it!"

My mother continued to struggle, "Nan Nan is truly gone. She died in childbirth... "

"You didn't remind me; that wretched woman was carrying a little bastard."

"What? Trying to use the child to manipulate me?"

"Heh, whether it's Zhou Nan or that brat, I won't spare them a glance!"

After ordering his bodyguards to throw my mother out, Lu Jingchuan coldly warned, "Get Zhou Nan out here to donate marrow within three days."

"Otherwise, I'll stop paying for your medical bills, elderly woman!"

"If Zhou Nan is truly so heartless, let her watch you suffer and die!"

On the night of my triumph, my husband chose her. As the champagne flutes toasted my resurrected Renaissance masterpieces, the news channels showed Lorenzo "Enzo" Conti shielding his new business ally—and rumored future bride—from a storm. I stood alone in the glittering gallery, the perfect, neglected wife of Chicago's most formidable shadow-king. For four years, I was his most beautiful possession. A restorer of broken art, trapped in my own gilded cage. That night, I saw the final crack. So I began my own restoration project. Myself. I forged my escape with the precision of my craft, embedding my divorce papers within a genuine museum loan agreement. He signed it without a glance, too busy building his empire to notice he was losing his wife. I vanished into the Swiss Alps, carrying two secrets: my unborn child, and the cold resolve to never be erased again. I thought that was the end of the story. I was wrong. He followed. The man who once commanded a criminal empire now lives in a mountain hut. He chops my wood, clears my path, and learns to soothe our daughter at 3 a.m. When assassins from his old life came, he buried them in the frozen earth with his bare hands. "Let me be your sentry," he says, his eyes holding a peace I've never seen. "Let me use the only skills I have left to keep you safe." This is not a story about forgiveness. This is a story about fracture, and what grows from the ruins. It's about the Don who became a carpenter, the restorer who learned to break free, and the new life we're building—piece by scarred piece—in the shadow of the mountains. Some masterpieces aren't found in museums. They're forged in the silent space between a second chance, and the courage to take it.
