Chapter 7

The door burst open, almost yanking off its hinges but that's the least of my worries.

Standing at the doorway, I feel my blood simmer beneath my skin, heat slithering through my veins.

She seats there, crossing her long legs leisurely on my swivel chair like it belongs to her.

After all these years. What does she want? Whatever it is, I won't let her have it.

My nerves grates through my system, my palms balling into hard fists at my sides as those lucid blue eyes stare back at me. Then her face stretches into a saccharin smile.

I don't know which angers me more, her presence or the smile on her face.

"Monica, what are you doing here?" I ask, shoving the door shut. The slam echoed through the walls of my office.

Her smile widens. "Knox, that's not how you treat someone special. It's been a long time." she purrs in a soft teasing voice.

She carries an elegance that announces her presence but it feels suffocating.

I know what she's trying to do, acting all soft like she means no harm. But that's not who she is. Beneath that beauty and polished looks, she's worse than a viper.

And I regret ever knowing her. How did we even become a couple in the first place? If I am being honest with myself, I know the answer. A shallow reason. We were good in bed, nothing more.

Flashes of memories came uninvited, wide hips bouncing on my rock hard dick night after night.

And how she moans my name in pleasure. We were so much in love, so I thought. Until it all came crashing down like pack of cards.

I quickly snap out of those stupid thoughts which I should not be having in the first place.

She pushes the chair back and stands Her black gown molds every curve of her body.

And those breasts...damn it! I always have a weakness for women with plenty in that department. Same size as Gina's. The difference? Monica went under the knife for hers.

Back then, it didn't bother me.

She sashays towards me and her wide hips rolled like well oiled wheels. Her sharp heels clicked against the floor. It was the only sound in the room but it crunched my wild thoughts, bringing me back to reality.

Monica shouldn't be here. I ask myself how those security team outside allow her in with the way she looks in that mini-slut- looking gown of hers.

I think I need to fire those guys and replace them with more competent hands!

She reaches out, her hand brushing my shoulder, and I stiffen. Whatever I once felt for her is long dead and buried in the sand of time.

Back then, the mere sound of her voice could turn me on. Back then, I could ride her all day. But those days are over, especially after what she did to me.

I glare at her hand. And then shrug it off as though it carries a dreadful disease. "Monica, I want you out of my office. Now," I growl.

She pouts, that fake sweetness in her tone already grating on me. "I miss you. I just got back yesterday, so I came to say hello."

She reaches for me again but I caught her wrist midair.

"You miss me?" I scoff. "Nice try. Now get out before I am forced to do something drastic.

In a flash the smile on her face melts away, and her eyes blazed with a dark fury. Her mask of sweetness slips away, revealing the darkness beneath.

"Knox, I came here to talk," she snaps. "Do I have to beg for your attention?"

I ignore her, walking to my table. The flies are all exactly were I left them. I drop into my chair and fix my gaze on her.

"You don't deserve my attention. Not after how things ended between us."

She raises her hands as if surrendering "Look, you don't have to rehearse the past. I messed up and I know it."

She drags a seat out and sits opposite me.

"But I know you still love me and I want you back."

I burst into uncontrollable laughter, the sounds fills the office before I stopped abruptly.

"You must be out of your mind. If this is a joke, it's funny. Now leave."

Her glare sharpens. "I am not going anywhere. You're mine."

The way she says it isn't affection, It sounds more like a threat.

I already have enough problems. Emma, my sweet little problem is more than I can handle. Adding Monica to that list is impossible.

"I am married," I say flatly. "You should look for someone else. My wife will be here soon, I don't want a scene."

This time, she throws her head back in mocking laughter. I fix a hard stare wondering if something funny. "You think I'm lying?" I ask.

She manage to suppress the laughter, her hand waving in the air as if to dismiss me. "I don't care. You met me before her and we can start all over."

I lean forward. "I don't want you in my life. What makes you think I want you back?"

She rises, slow and deliberate, stepping towards me. I swivel my chair to face her.

She closes the gap between us. Before I can stand, she shoves me back into my seat and slides onto my lap.

Her hands pressed against my chest . I could see her nipples straining against the sheer fabric of her dress.

She notice my gaze on her breast and she takes it as permission to press her breast into me.

My throat goes dry suddenly. Such closeness isn't what I need. I don't want her. Let her keep trying, nothing will ever happen between us.

I grip her waist ready to push her off me. Just when I thought I could resist her, her lips crash onto mine.
