Pact Of Love Under Oath Novel Cover

Pact Of Love Under Oath

Alicia had never imagined that her wedding day would unravel into a storm of secrets, betrayals, and overwhelming passion. Just before her wedding, a devastating truth came to light, drawing the name of Dante Moretti into her life-a man whose power and ruthlessness had made him the most feared figure in Italy. Shaped by his past and driven by control, Dante trusted nothing but his own will, until Alicia shattered his certainty with her quiet tenderness. Bound together by vengeance and guilt, they were forced to face enemies determined to destroy them and confront emotions neither of them could deny. Through tears, danger, and a love that endured amid chaos, Alicia and Dante discovered that true love was not a choice but something that simply took hold. But when life stripped away their peace, it was love-pure and unbreakable-that guided them back to their path. This was a story of redemption, family, second chances, and a love that defied fate.

Chapter 6

The night stretched on endlessly for Alicia Michelle.

Betrayal weighed on her chest, suffocating her like a wound that refused to heal. She might have carried the Morgan name and grown up at the top of the world, but in that moment, she felt smaller than ever before.

She had spent days convincing herself she was strong enough to overcome what happened with Marcus and Viviana, that her value wasn't tied to a man's faithfulness. Still, the mind could be cruel. Alone in the night, with nothing to distract her, those dark thoughts overwhelmed her.

Whenever she closed her eyes, she pictured Marcus touching Viviana, saw the way Viviana melted into him, giving herself over completely. She heard the harsh voice of her "best friend," insisting she would never be enough, that her fiancé had always wanted someone else. That they had even created children together, hidden in the shadows of their affair.

Alicia drew her knees to her chest as she sat on the bed.

She had never felt so shattered.

But now she faced a heavier decision: Matteo's proposal, and the prospect of becoming Dante Moretti's wife.

Even the idea of marrying Dante Vittorio Moretti made her skin crawl and set off a chill along her spine.

He was far more than an ordinary businessman. Dante stood as an uncrowned king, ruling over vast stretches of Europe, answering to no one. In the world of business, his name meant absolute power. In the underworld, his reputation brought only fear and danger.

Alicia had heard the rumors. She understood that Dante never accepted "no" for an answer; when he set his sights on something, he claimed it no matter the cost. If she agreed to his proposal, she would find herself imprisoned in his world.

But if she refused…

Her lips trembled.

She had searched desperately for another way, a different solution to save the branch on the brink of collapse, but every path had closed in on her. Matteo had been right. No investor was willing to take such a risk on such short notice, and no bank would lend her the money she needed.

Aaron trusted her, and she could not afford to fail him.

With a slow, weary breath, she closed her eyes and finally let exhaustion pull her under.

The following day

Sunlight filtered through the windows of her room, yet Alicia Michelle felt none of its warmth.

She felt hollow.

The decision had already been made.

She did not want to speak to her sisters or her mother. She did not want advice or warnings. No one could truly understand the nightmare she was trapped in.

Reaching for her phone, she searched for Matteo Ricci's contact.

Her finger hovered over the screen for a brief moment before she pressed the call button.

The line rang twice before Matteo's voice came through, calm in a way that made her uneasy.

"I knew you would call, Alicia Morgan."

Alicia shut her eyes tightly.

"Tell Dante that I accept."

Silence followed.

"A wise choice, Miss Morgan."

Alicia shivered as a chill ran down her spine.

Her fate had been sealed. The call ended, but Matteo immediately placed another call.

Sunset's golden glow slipped through the windows of Moretti Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Milan. From its highest floor, the city below looked small and unimportant—a mere model beneath the feet of the man who ruled it all.

Dante Vittorio Moretti sat in an elegant black leather armchair, one leg crossed over the other, a glass of whiskey in his hand. His dark eyes gazed at the horizon with the calm confidence of a predator who knew his prey had no escape.

The buzzing of his phone cut through the silence.

Matteo Ricci.

Dante allowed himself a small smile, lifted his glass, and answered.

"Tell me."

On the other end of the line, Matteo's voice sounded as efficient as ever on the other end.

"Alicia Michelle has accepted."

For the first time in a while, Dante's fingers stilled around his glass. It was not because he found the news unexpected—he had known she would surrender eventually—but because hearing those words confirmed the game had reached its final stage.

Alicia Michelle Morgan now belonged to him.

"Did she hesitate?" he asked, his voice calm, almost amused.

Matteo chuckled softly.

"A little. You know she has spirit, but she had no other option. We forced her to choose between the company and her pride, and you know which one prevailed."

Dante rolled the glass between his fingers, savoring the chill against his skin.

"How did her voice sound?"

Matteo hesitated for a moment.

"Broken."

Dante released a slow, satisfied breath.

"Perfect."

He wanted Alicia Michelle just like this—at her weakest, shaped by his will. He had no interest in a woman who clung to hope or resistance. He wanted her vulnerable, with no way out except through him.

"Good." Now, make sure the contract is ready. I don't want to leave her any space to reconsider."

"I will. When do you want to see her?"

A smile flickered on Dante's lips, and his eyes glinted with dangerous intent.

"Tell her I expect her in my office tomorrow."

With that, he ended the call.

Dante Moretti set his glass on the marble table and rose from his chair, moving slowly toward the window.

Milan sprawled below him—and now, so did Alicia Michelle Morgan.

That afternoon, the air felt heavy, thick with heat that promised a coming storm. Alicia Michelle moved purposefully through the gardens of the Morgan mansion in Milan, searching for anything that might distract her from the impossible decision that awaited her.

The choice Alicia had made about Dante Moretti still pressed heavily on her chest, but there was no going back. The contract was signed, and her fate now belonged to the most dangerous man in Europe.

All at once, a familiar figure stepped into her path.

"Alicia..."

Every muscle in her body tensed. She did not need to turn around to recognize the voice. Marcus Aponte.

She closed her eyes for a moment, steadying herself before facing him. When she finally looked at him, her expression turned cold, unreadable.

Marcus looked worn out, his hair unkempt and his face drawn with exhaustion, as though he had not slept in days. The man who once loved her now stood as only a shell of his former self.

"Go away, Marcus. I have nothing to say to you."

He remained rooted to the spot.

"Alicia, please. Just listen to me." His voice sounded desperate and raw.

She folded her arms, refusing to close the gap between them.

"Why? So you can feed me more lies? I don't care anymore."

Marcus took a step closer, his features contorted with anguish.

"I know I acted like a fool. What happened with Viviana was a mistake—it meant nothing. I love you, Alicia. I always have."

Alicia let out a bitter laugh.

"A mistake?" Her eyes narrowed. "No, Marcus. Forgetting an anniversary is a mistake. Saying something thoughtless is a mistake. But sleeping with another woman—my friend—was not a mistake. That was your choice."

Marcus's throat tightened, and he could not bring himself to look at her.

"I know. I know, and I regret it every single moment. But if you'd let me, I'll prove that I've changed. I'll do whatever it takes, Alicia. Anything you ask."

She felt her anger rising, hot and sharp.

"Anything?"

Marcus nodded without hesitation.

"Anything."

Alicia tilted her head mockingly.

"Fine. Then disappear from my life."

Marcus froze.

"Alicia..."

"I don't want to see you again. I don't want to hear your voice. I don't want to know anything about you. That's your only chance—leave and never come back."

Despair filled Marcus's eyes.

"Please..."

He dropped to his knees in front of her, begging, his pride gone.

"Don't do this to me. Don't let Aaron ruin me. Don't let my family suffer for my mistakes. I'm begging you, Alicia."

Pain laced every word he spoke. The once-proud Marcus Aponte now knelt before her, pleading for his life and the future of his family.

Alicia gazed down at him, torn between pity and contempt.

"I'll think about it. But only if you get up and disappear from my sight right now."

Marcus did not hesitate. He scrambled to his feet, nodding eagerly.

"Thank you, Alicia. Thank you. I won't let you down."

She offered no reply. She simply turned away and walked off, leaving him there, utterly broken.

Night settled over the city, casting an uneasy silence across everything.

Alicia Michelle sat alone in her room, staring at the glass of wine in her hand. She should have felt triumphant. She had put Marcus in his place, delivered the lesson he deserved.

Yet her heart remained raw and aching.

Right then, her phone buzzed, cutting through her thoughts.

A message from an unknown number appeared.

She frowned and opened it.

It was a photograph.

Her entire body went rigid as she looked at the image on her screen. Marcus lay asleep in bed, and next to him was the unmistakable outline of a woman.

A chill swept over her skin. Viviana.

The message attached to the photo read: "No matter what happens, he comes to me. I'm always here to comfort him."

It felt as though a knife had been driven into Alicia's chest. Marcus had spent the afternoon on his knees, pleading for forgiveness—yet now he was with Viviana?

Anger tangled with pain, swirling through her. But instead of breaking, Alicia let an ironic smile touch her lips.

She calmly typed her reply.

"Try again, darling. The man sleeping beside you spent his afternoon begging for another chance with me."

Without waiting for a reply, she blocked the number.

Alicia set her phone on the table and let out a deep, weary sigh. She was exhausted. Tired of deception, betrayal, and these pathetic games.

But now, everything was clear.

She would never again waste her time on men like Marcus Aponte.

She had struck a bargain with the devil himself.

Dante Moretti.

And he would never beg for anything.
