Chapter 5

Si lo hubiera guionado, quizás y no le salía tan bien, estaba eufórico, esperanzado, Alexander estaba tranquilo, mientras que Sofía estaba aturdida, incapaz de decir o hacer algo.

— ¿Estas bien Sofía? Estas un poco pálida. — consulto como si fuesen grandes amigos de toda la vida, y como si no le hubiese dado en toda la cara con un par de carpetas segundos antes, quien hasta ese momento era su jefe.

— Usted, ¿estuvo bebiendo? — se atrevió a preguntar y mientras que Alexander la depositaba en un sofá de la oficina, ella olisqueó cerca de su cuello, sin atreverse a ir más cerca de su boca.

— No estoy ebrio, no bebo en horas de trabajo, solo estoy… tranquilo. — reconoció sonriendo, como cada vez que firmaba un buen contrato.

— Señor Thompson, no sé qué fue lo que sucedió, pero por si aún no se da cuenta, le acaba de decir a un periodista que somos novios, peor aún, lo dejo salir con las fotos y seguro que también filmo, el momento en el que me tomo en brazos, eso no es bueno…

— Eso es justo lo que necesito. — y cuando lo dijo, Alexander comprendió que estaba siendo egoísta, era tanta su desesperación por encontrar una solución que no había tomado en cuenta lo que Sofía pudiera pensar, o mejor dicho si le traería algún problema, pero viéndolo en una perspectiva más amplia, como siempre lo hacía el CEO, era un ganar o ganar, era un buen negocio. — Mejor dicho, es un gran negocio que nos salvara a ambos. — Sofía parpadeo repetidamente, quizás el hambre que cargaba por solo beber café desde hacía dos días, al fin la estaba haciendo alucinar.

— Señor Thompson… no comprendo de lo que habla. — se arriesgó a decir y fiel a su empleo, se puso de pie para recoger las carpetas que estaban en el piso, después de todo, ella era la secretaria del señor Thompson.

— Por cierto. — dijo Alexander al ver como recogía las carpetas. — No estas herida ¿verdad? no fue mi intención golpearte, ni siquiera sabía que aun estabas aquí. — aclaró al recordar el motivo por el que tenía en brazos a la joven cuando el bendito periodista apareció.

— No se preocupe, las carpetas, son de tapa blanda y escasas hojas, y creo que se le olvido que jamás me he ido antes que usted. — comento la rubia dejando las carpetas sobre el escritorio. — Soy su secretaria señor Thompson, es mi deber ayudarlo, hasta que usted no se marcha, yo tampoco. — un pequeño destello de culpabilidad llego al CEO, era consiente que él siempre era el último en irse, más luego del divorcio, odiaba llegar a su mansión y escuchar a su madre, hermana y tratar de explicarle a su hijo lo que sucedía con Lucrecia.

— Eso… dime que al menos te pago horas extras. — acoto a la vez que, hacia una pequeña mueca de temor, estaría en grandes problemas si Sofía lo demandaba por explotación laboral.

— Sí que lo hacen señor, todo queda marcado en mi tarjeta. — aclaró mostrando la tarjeta que utilizaba para ingresar sin problemas a la empresa y eso solo hizo sonreír a Alexander.

— Eso es más que estupendo, si alguien duda de nuestra relación podríamos filtrar nuestros itinerarios a la prensa, así todos comprobarían que nuestra relación es real y está más que justificada, tu enviudaste, justo en el momento en que Lucrecia me pidió el divorcio, entonces todo comenzó como un mutuo acompañamiento, una pequeña muestra de empatía entre jefe y empleada, que pronto escalo a más, dejando nuestros sentimientos al descubierto, al comprobar que nuestra química era algo que…

— ¡¿De qué demonios está hablando?! — grito casi sin aire, pues cuando su jefe comenzó a decir todo aquello se asustó, y dejo de respirar, era ridículo y un poco vergonzoso, pero desde que Adrián había fallecido, le solía pasar, el miedo no la dejaba respirar, como ahora, tenía miedo de que su jefe estuviera drogado, ya que no olía a alcohol, aún peor sería que, al fin el gran CEO hubiese enloquecido a causa del estrés.

— Lo siento. — ¿Cuántas veces se había disculpado con Sofía en esos minutos? Mas de lo que se hubiera disculpado con cualquier mortal en toda su vida, pero Alexander era una persona muy sensata, la mayoría de las veces al menos. — Toma asiento por favor, deja que te explique. — no era su voz, tampoco la calma en la que se expresaba, eran las manos de Alexander sobre las suyas, guiándola al sofá una vez más, lo que ocasiono que Sofía acompasará su respiración nuevamente y se relajará, nada malo sucederá, repetía en su mente.

— Eso estaría bien y disculpe por mi exabrupto. — murmuró la pelirroja y Alexander rápidamente recordó que le había gritado, Sofía era una empleada ejemplar, muy correcta en todo sentido, se recordó Alexander, su esposo debió de ser muy afortunado, se dijo.

— No importa esta más que justificada tu reacción, creo que debí parecerte un poco desquiciado. — ¿solo un poco? Pensó Sofía, pero aun así no dijo nada. — Pero es que no lo puedo evitar, me permitiré ser honesto contigo Sofía. — el CEO aún tenía sus manos atrapadas en las de él, sus ojos mieles, estaban fijos en los azules de ella, y Sofía sentía que estaba a punto de contarle un gran secreto empresarial, o algo por el estilo. — Mi lugar de CEO pende de un hilo, uno muy delgado, mi divorcio y las falsas acusaciones de Lucrecia, no solo me hicieron perder grandes negocios, mi familia… ellos me lo advirtieron, que no confiara en ella, pero no los escuche, es por eso que mi madre quiere proponer que mi hermana asuma mi lugar, no sé si a modo de castigo o porque realmente cree que no podre remontar la perdida que todo esto está ocasionando, y juro que no tengo nada en contra de Aria , pero así como mi familia no confiaba en Lucrecia, yo no confió en mi cuñado, y lo peor de todo, es que si pierdo mi lugar como CEO, será el fin de todo, ser el CEO de esta empresa es lo único que me queda como credibilidad, si me quitan esto, estoy seguro que perderé a mi hijo. — Sofía veía la desesperación en sus ojos, lo tenso de su postura, estaba al corriente de todo lo que de Alexander se decía, pero… ella trabajaba para él, lo había visto enojado con uno que otro artista, o cuando un negocio salía mal, jamás fue violento, nunca lo vio con un hombre en alguna actitud que la hiciera dudar de en qué bando jugaba el señor Thompson, se podria decir que lo comprendía, ella sabía lo que era estar acorralada, pues ella lo estaba, de diferente manera, pero también estaba por perder “todo”.

— Lamento mucho escuchar todo esto, yo… sé que usted no es nada de lo que se dice… — trato de consolarlo, no era muy buena haciendo aquello, dicen que uno da, lo que en la vida ha recibido, y bueno, Sofía no había recibido ni mucho cariño, mucho menos consuelo.

— Pero eso no basta, no sirve de nada que tu digas que no soy lo que Lucrecia alega o lo que esas fotos trucadas aseguran, pero… si te haces pasar por mi novia, eso sí me dará una oportunidad. — bien, su jefe estaba loco, lo estaba comprobando.

— Pero ¿Qué demonios dice?
