Pregnant and Rejected: The Alpha's Biggest Mistake Novel Cover

Pregnant and Rejected: The Alpha's Biggest Mistake

My husband Liam was the perfect Alpha. He built me a library, fought off rogues, and swore I was his soulmate. I thought we were the perfect fated couple. That was until I found the burner phone wedged deep in the sofa cushions. "She's just a placeholder," he texted his mistress, Ava. "You know you're my real queen." Attached was an ultrasound of a wolf pup—his heir. I tried to leave with dignity, but he dragged me to the Pack Gala. On a live stream watched by thousands, he paraded Ava around, wearing my family’s heirloom necklace. When I tried to take it back, he didn't just stop me. He slapped me across the face. The force of his blow didn't just break my heart; the trauma killed the secret baby growing inside me. I severed the bond and vanished, leaving him with his "queen" and his guilt. Five years later, I returned, not as a weak rejected mate, but as the powerful Alpha of the Sanctuary. Liam fell to his knees in the dirt, holding a flawless pink diamond, begging for a second chance. "I fought for you," he cried, tears streaming down his face. "I bled for you! I am your Fated Mate!" I looked at him with nothing but pity, then turned to the man standing beside me—the quiet Beta who had silently saved my life years ago when Liam was too busy playing the hero. I took Ethan's hand. "Ethan," I asked, my voice ringing clear through the silent crowd. "Will you be my Mate?" As Liam screamed in agony, the Moon Goddess answered with a blinding golden light.

Chapter 6

Maya POV:

"Granted."

The word was a key unlocking a cage, but the freedom it promised came with a price.

Pain exploded in my chest. It wasn't the dull, aching emotional pain of betrayal anymore. It was the physical tearing of the soul. The bond was snapping.

I fell to my knees, gasping for air that wouldn't come.

Liam screamed.

He clutched his chest, dropping to the floor as if shot. His wolf was howling in agony, the sound vibrating through the connection one last time.

"Maya!" he gasped, his voice ragged. "Don't! Stop it!"

I gritted my teeth against the fire in my veins. Blood trickled from my nose, dripping onto the cold floor.

"I... reject... you," I forced the words out, each one a shard of glass in my throat.

Snap.

It felt like a steel tether shearing inside my brain.

The connection-the constant, low-frequency hum of his presence in my mind-vanished instantly.

Silence.

Blissful, terrifying, absolute silence.

I stood up, swaying on my feet.

Ava was screaming at Liam, her voice shrill and confused. "Why are you in pain? Why are you hurting for her? You have me!"

"Shut up!" Liam roared at her, his eyes wild and unfocused. He looked up at me, horror dawning on his face. "Maya... what have you done?"

"I freed myself," I rasped.

I turned and ran.

Adrenaline flooded my system, pushing past the pain. I ran out of the Council Hall, bursting into the cool night air.

"Stop her!" Liam commanded from inside, his voice booming. "Don't let her leave the territory!"

The guards at the perimeter stepped forward, weapons raised, but then they hesitated.

They looked at me-really looked at me.

They saw the blood streaming from my nose. They saw the bruising forming on my cheek where their Alpha had struck me.

They had seen the evidence of his cruelty, and in that split second of moral conflict, I slipped past them.

I sprinted toward the road. A taxi was waiting, engine idling-arranged by the Phoenix Initiative.

I dove into the back seat, slamming the door.

"Go! Drive!"

The driver, an older human man whose eyes held the weight of knowing too much, didn't ask questions. He floored it.

Tires screeched against the asphalt as we sped away.

I looked back through the rear window.

Liam was running after the car in his human form, shirtless, his chest heaving as he shouted my name.

"Maya! Come back!"

I watched him for a second, then reached out and rolled up the window, sealing him out of my life.

Then, the pain hit my stomach.

It started as a cramp, sharp and sudden, and quickly turned into a knife twisting deep in my gut.

"No," I whispered, terror gripping me colder than the night air. I clutched my belly. "No, please."

A sickening warmth spread between my legs.

"Driver," I gasped, doubling over. "Hospital."

The driver met my eyes in the rearview mirror, his expression grim. "We can't stop, miss," he said, his voice tight. "They're following. If we stop, he takes you back."

I looked down.

Blood was soaking through the fabric of my white dress, a stark, crimson stain spreading rapidly.

The severance of the bond. The shock to my system. The physical trauma of the slap.

It was too much for the pup.

"My baby," I sobbed, the realization shattering whatever strength I had left.

My vision blurred at the edges.

The world went dark.

Reborn Heiress: My Family's Bitter Karma Novel Cover
7.9
On my eighteenth birthday, the celestial pact hiding my aura finally expired. I stood on the rotting steps of the trailer, watching my foster family celebrate my eviction like they’d won the lottery. Brenda threw a liability waiver at me to sign, ensuring I’d never ask for a dime of their welfare checks again. Worse, her daughter Regina stood there smirking, flaunting the heirloom emerald bracelet she’d stolen from my secret stash—unaware it was a spiritual artifact soaked in fifty years of blood magic. "Consider it payment for room and board, freak," Regina sneered, forcing the silver band over her wrist. They thought they were discarding a burden. They didn't realize I was the only dam holding back a tidal wave of their own bad karma. As I signed the papers, voluntarily severing our ties, the air pressure plummeted. The bracelet began to constrict like a snake, turning Regina’s flesh a necrotic purple as the protection I offered vanished. Before they could scream, a matte black helicopter bearing the Sterling Industries crest descended onto the muddy lawn, blowing their plastic lawn chairs into the neighbor's yard. A man in a bespoke charcoal suit stepped out, ignoring the filth to bow before me. He looked at my terrified foster family and announced, "We are here to retrieve the Sterling heiress." I smiled at Regina, whose arm was already beginning to rot, and whispered, "Keep the bracelet. You'll need it to pay for the amputation."
