Chapter 3

The Miami sun beat down on my skin as I stepped out of the limousine, sunglasses hiding the dark circles under my eyes. Two weeks had passed since I'd fled Silvermoon Pack, leaving behind only a brief note that I needed space. My wolf, Luna, had been restless the entire journey, alternating between whimpering at the distance from our mate bond and relief at escaping Marcus's coldness.

'Welcome to Love Island: Celebrity Edition!' A perky producer named Sarah Jenkins greeted me, clipboard in hand. 'Isabella Morgan, right? The lifestyle influencer?'

I nodded, grateful for the cover story the production team had created. The human world couldn't know I was the Luna of a powerful werewolf pack. 'That's me.'

'Perfect timing. Most contestants have arrived. We're just waiting on—ah, here he comes now.'

Another sleek black car pulled up behind mine. The door opened, and time seemed to slow as a tall figure emerged. He moved with a fluid grace that immediately set my wolf on alert. This was no ordinary human.

'Ryan Mitchell,' Sarah announced, her voice taking on a reverent tone. 'Tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist. One of our highest-profile contestants.'

He turned, and our eyes met across the driveway. His were a warm amber color that seemed to glow with an inner light. Luna suddenly surged beneath my skin, pressing forward with such force that I gasped. It wasn't pain—it was recognition, a primal response I couldn't control.

Ryan froze mid-step, his nostrils flaring slightly. Even from this distance, I could see his pupils dilate. He was a werewolf. Not just any werewolf—something more powerful. His aura was unlike anything I'd ever encountered, controlled but immense, like an ocean held back by a dam.

'Isabella,' Sarah touched my arm, breaking the moment. 'Let me show you to your room. You'll have time to meet everyone at dinner.'

I tore my gaze away from Ryan, but Luna whined in protest. What was happening? I was mated—the pull I felt shouldn't be possible.

The villa was spectacular, all white marble and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. I barely noticed, my thoughts consumed by the strange reaction my wolf had to Ryan. I'd changed into a simple blue dress for dinner, twisting my mother's silver ring anxiously as I made my way to the dining area.

The long table was already filled with contestants—actors, musicians, social media personalities—all chattering excitedly. I scanned the faces, and my heart stuttered when I found him. Ryan sat midway down the table, and the only empty seat was beside him. As if drawn by an invisible thread, I moved toward it.

'Isabella,' he said my name like he was tasting it, his voice deep and melodic. Up close, his aura was even more overwhelming—not oppressive like Marcus's, but warm and inviting.

'Ryan,' I replied, sliding into the chair beside him. 'I believe we haven't been properly introduced.'

His lips curved into a smile that transformed his face from merely handsome to breathtaking. 'No, but I feel like I know you.'

The strange thing was, I felt it too. Luna was practically purring beneath my skin, a reaction she'd never had to anyone—not even Marcus.

Dinner was served, a lavish spread of seafood and tropical fruits. As we reached for the same appetizer platter, our fingers brushed. Electricity shot up my arm, and Luna roared to life inside me, a primal sound of joy and recognition so powerful that I nearly shifted right there at the table.

Ryan's eyes flashed gold for a split second, his own wolf responding. He drew a sharp breath, his hand trembling slightly as he withdrew it.

'What are you?' I whispered, too low for human ears.

'Lycan,' he murmured back, equally quiet. 'And you're a Luna.'

The realization hit me like a thunderbolt. Lycans were werewolf royalty—rare, powerful, and bound by ancient laws even Alphas respected. What was one doing on a human reality show?

Before I could ask more, the cameras focused on us, and we were forced to participate in the show's opening night games. But throughout the evening, I felt his gaze on me, thoughtful and intense. Luna remained alert and responsive, as if she'd awakened from a long sleep.

Miles away at Silvermoon Pack, Marcus stood at the window of his office, a glass of whiskey clutched in his white-knuckled grip. A sudden, sharp pain had lanced through his chest moments ago—a disturbance in the mate bond he shared with Isabella.

His wolf growled, sensing something was wrong. For the first time since she'd left, he felt her wolf's emotions clearly through their bond—not pain or loneliness, but something far more threatening.

Joy. Excitement. Attraction.

The glass shattered in his hand, blood and alcohol dripping onto the hardwood floor.

'Alpha?' Beta David Wilson appeared in the doorway, concern etched on his face. 'Is everything alright?'

Marcus's eyes flashed a dangerous red. 'Find out where she is. Now.'

David hesitated, noting the dark, unsettling aura emanating from his Alpha. 'Sir, perhaps we should give Luna Isabella the space she requested—'

'NOW!' Marcus roared, his Alpha voice making the windows rattle.

David backed away, deeply troubled. As he closed the door, he heard the sound of furniture being thrown against the wall.

Something had changed. And whatever it was, David feared it would not end well for anyone involved.
