Rejected Heiress And The Ruthless CEO Novel Cover

Rejected Heiress And The Ruthless CEO

For twenty years, Krista lived as the perfect daughter of the wealthy Cain family. But a single DNA report shattered her entire world. Her adoptive parents coldly declared she was just a mistake and immediately replaced her with the true bloodline. Desperate, she ran through the freezing rain to find her fiancé, only to hear him laughing with his friends. "Marry a fake? I don't collect the Cain family's second-hand trash." She slapped him, threw her diamond ring at his chest, and stumbled into a jazz lounge to drown her pain. Drunk and heartbroken, she accidentally crashed into a stranger, clinging to him like a lifeline, which ended in a wild night in a luxury penthouse. When she woke up, she realized the man she had ravaged was Jasper Stone, the most ruthless, cold-blooded billionaire on Wall Street. At the same time, her phone lit up with notifications. Her bank accounts were frozen, and the Cain family had just released a brutal public statement permanently cutting her off. She was completely abandoned, stripped of her home, her family, and her dignity in a single night. Why was twenty years of loyalty erased so easily? But instead of kicking her out, Jasper tossed a prenuptial agreement onto the bed. "Pay off your debt with marriage. Stay, and you are the untouchable Mrs. Stone." Looking at the contract, Krista wiped her tears, put on bold red lipstick, and signed her name.

Chapter 5

The penthouse was dead silent. Krista stared at the ceiling for ten full minutes before she forced her trembling legs to move.

She dragged the blanket with her and stumbled into the massive bathroom. She turned the shower handle all the way to cold. The freezing water hit her skin like needles, washing away the sweat, the smell of alcohol, and the lingering heat of Jasper Stone.

She stepped out, shivering violently. On the marble vanity sat a row of unopened, top-tier La Mer skincare products. She stared at them, a bitter smile twisting her lips.

She wrapped herself in a thick, oversized bathrobe and walked out into the living room. The space was massive, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking, unobstructed view of Central Park.

A sharp cramp twisted her stomach. She hadn't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon, and the whiskey was eating away at her stomach lining.

She walked over to the open kitchen. Sitting on the marble island was a sleek thermal food container. She popped the lid open.

Steam rose, carrying the rich scent of buttery French croissants and black truffle scrambled eggs. Her absolute favorites.

Krista froze for a second, but then shook her head. She convinced herself it was just the standard, high-end service of a billionaire's penthouse. But as she stared at the perfectly cooked eggs, a deep, unsettling suspicion clawed at her chest. This was too coincidental. Even the black truffle was shaved to her exact, specific preference, the croissants baked to the precise golden hue she demanded at the estate. Had he investigated her already? How deep did his surveillance go in just a few hours? The thought sent a simultaneous shiver of fear and strange validation down her spine.

She sat on a barstool and took a bite of the flaky croissant. The taste was perfect. Without warning, a hot tear slipped down her cheek and splashed onto the back of her hand.

She thought of Warren Cain's cold eyes. Twenty years of calling him "Father," erased in a single second by a DNA test. She thought of Dannie's mocking laugh. A lifetime of promises, traded for a better business deal.

Suddenly, her phone, which she had tossed onto the sofa, began to vibrate violently.

Krista walked over and picked it up. Three text messages from Chase Bank lit up the screen.

The words were clinical and brutal. Her black card, her debit cards, and all her linked accounts had been frozen as of 8:00 AM.

Immediately after, another notification popped up. A failed payment for her monthly car rental.

Krista's fingers started to shake. The heavy hammer of reality smashed into her chest. She didn't even have enough money to call an Uber.

Worse, the small apartment she lived in was under the Cain family trust. They could lock her out today.

She slowly turned her head. Her eyes locked onto the bedroom door, where the Temporary Prenuptial Agreement still lay on the bed.

Jasper's voice echoed in her ears. Walk out that door, and you face the entire Cain family alone.

She took a deep, shaky breath. She walked back into the bedroom, picked up the document, and forced herself to read it like a business contract.

The terms were staggering. An astronomical monthly allowance. Absolute physical protection. A massive payout in the event of a divorce.

Just as her internal scale tipped, a polite, rhythmic knock echoed from the front door.

Krista pulled her bathrobe tighter and walked to the door. She checked the video monitor. A middle-aged man in a strict, three-piece suit stood outside.

She opened the door. The man immediately bowed, his posture radiating absolute respect. "Good morning, Ms. Cain."

"I am Mr. Stone's executive assistant, Mr. Shepherd." He handed her a thick, gold-embossed business card.

Behind him, three assistants rolled in two racks of clothing.

"Mr. Stone instructed us to bring these. Since your clothes were damaged, these are your replacements. We prepared these based on a careful visual estimation of your silhouette and standard haute couture measurements. If the fit is in any way incorrect, we have a master tailor on standby downstairs to make immediate alterations to ensure your absolute comfort."

Krista stared at the rows of current-season haute couture gowns, the tags still attached. She looked back at Mr. Shepherd. There was no pity in his eyes, no mockery. Only pure respect.

She gripped the business card. The last wall of her pride crumbled into dust.

I became the biggest laughingstock of high society overnight, written off as a nobody from a small town with no status, no backing, and no right to stand among them. Everyone looked down on me, convinced I was weak and easy to push around. But I've never been one to swallow insults or accept defeat. Instead of fleeing in shame, I turned and walked straight toward the darkest, most intimidating figure in the entire banquet hall-Ervin Hendricks, the reclusive and ruthless fifth heir of the powerful Hendricks family. Rumors followed him everywhere: they said he was confined to a wheelchair, cold-blooded, dangerously unhinged, and cruel enough to ruin anyone who crossed him. The entire room held its breath, certain I was walking straight to my doom. I lifted my chin, met his sharp gaze steadily, and spoke in a calm, unshakable tone: "Ervin Hendricks. Marry me. I'll clear every obstacle in your path and help you seize everything that belongs to you. In return, you'll stand by my side and shield me from this world's cruelty." In the blink of an eye, I went from Julian's discarded fiancée to his aunt by marriage, the official Mrs. Hendricks. The whole town waited eagerly to watch me break down, to see me suffer at Ervin's hands and beg for mercy. They had no clue I was hiding far more than they could ever imagine. I'm the elite medical genius that top hospitals beg to consult, the unbeatable hacker who can crack any system in minutes, the hidden tycoon pulling strings behind global empires, and the secret powerhouse even the most elite families dare not cross. One by one, my true identities were unveiled, and every person who once mocked me fell silent, bowing to my power. As for Julian? He watched me rise from a social outcast to the most feared and respected woman in the city, standing proudly beside the all-powerful Ervin Hendricks. Meanwhile, his own fortune crumbled, his reputation was in tatters, and the life he'd chased after leaving me turned into a complete disaster. He was consumed by regret, so desperate he lost his mind. He chased me down at every high-society event, his eyes red with guilt and desperation, pleading for forgiveness, groveling to take back every cruel word, begging me to give him a second chance. He whined about how he'd made the worst mistake of his life, how he'd thrown away the only person who could have made him truly successful. I felt nothing but cold contempt for him. You cast me aside like worthless trash when you thought I had nothing to offer. You chose arrogance and greed over loyalty, and now you think a few empty apologies can erase that? I didn't even spare him a glance, simply linking my arm through Ervin's and stepping past him without a second thought. And then, the man everyone believed would never walk again suddenly rose from his wheelchair, pulled me tight against his chest, and whispered in a deep, soft, and utterly possessive voice that only I could hear: "Kailee. You're my little treasure, my only obsession, and the only person I'll ever love and protect with everything I have." This life, I'm taking down every enemy that wronged me, dominating every circle I step into, and making the most powerful man in the city wrap himself entirely around my finger.
