Chapter 6

Larissa's POV

My heart came to a sudden stop as his skin touched mine.

I wanted to run away, to be as far away as possible, but the feel of his skin on mine made me want to run into his arms and forget about everything.

But the situation reminded me that it was more than important for me to stay the hell away from him.

"You got the wrong person, mister," I replied, without much thought.

Everyone's attention was now on us and it wasn't something that would do me much good. It is never in anyone's favour for an omega to be in the limelight.

It does me no good at all.

The sound of his chuckle brought warmth to my heart, reminding me of a bond that was yet to be severed..

"I can tell your shadow amongst a thousand women," he offered in a tone that made me hesitate about my next move.

"I'm afraid I do not know what you are talking about, sir. I should be on my way already..."

His grip on my wrist was tight and I was clearly going nowhere with him holding me positively..

It made me feel hot all of a sudden..

"You know exactly what I am talking about."

I glanced around us nervously, and some women had their eyes glaring daggers at me. It was no news that Darrell was the most eligible bachelor and, instead, he had eyes of a mere omega...

I was clearly asking for a death wish..

"You're coming with me," Darrell said.

I didn't need to be told that it was an order because his eyes said it all..

With a gentle nod of my head, I was led toward his carriage, which was right in the middle of the crowd and, as expected, I got deadly glares from the young women in the pack.

I bowed my head, wishing I had arrived here just a few moments after he must have taken his leave.

There was something that seemed different about him and I couldn't really tell what it was..

He used to be the Alpha in line, but the number of entourage he had as well as the way they regarded him with dread and respect,...

Could he be the Alpha?

And what was he doing here?

He helped me into the carriage and we were soon riding toward a destination unknown to me..

If only I had been way quicker on my feet, I wouldn't be here facing the one man I've been trying so hard to avoid..

Why did he have to show up now?

I have been living a quiet life so far. What in the name of the moon goddess does he want with me now?

"I never thought I would ever get to see you again..." Darrell said, staring at me in disbelief. It was almost like he never expected that he would see me again after that night.

"You look well."

I had no other reply to give the supposed father of my children!

What was I thinking about having given in to him so easily?

I've been trying my best to hide the boys and...

"Ever since that night..."

"What happened that night was a horrible mistake and we should forget that ever happened"

He stared at me in silence, his lovely green eyes never leaving mine.

I turned away from him, refusing to be hypnotised by those enchanting looks of his..

"How could I forget that night, Larrissa? It was a beautiful night for both of us..."

I don't want to agree with his words, but recalling how passionate that night had been and how much I craved to be in his arms again...

"And the way you left after something so deep and beautiful..."

"Alpha Darrell.."

"Call me Darell"

I stared at him, daring to call the Alpha by name was the same as pleading for a death sentence...

If the Alpha is granting me this privilege....

" I would like to leave Alpha."

"Larrissa..."

"Please! I...I really need to get back to my mistress", I pleaded.

I don't want to entertain him at all and if I am about to get out of this....

He nodded and signalled his driver to stop.

A sigh of relief washed over me as the door swung open.

"I will be back for you, Larrissa. This isn't over just yet."

There was something about his tone, almost like a threat even..

I got out of the carriage and waited for it to leave, bowing my head in respect.

I would rather eat worms than wait for him to see where I live...

Finally, the carriage was out of sight and I ran all the way to the cottage, my heart racing wildly in my chest.

I had to get my children and get out of this pack as soon as possible...

As I got closer to my house, I stared in horror at the boys playing out in the open.

What were they doing playing out there in the open?

" Look! Mummy is here!"

They came running towards me, the brightest smiles on their faces.

"What did I tell you about coming out in the open? I have warned you about doing this! I yelled at them, fear evident in my eyes as I got closer.

They shouldn't be out here to begin with!

"We're sorry mother, we..."

"Go in now!"

I watched them leave and relief washed over me.

I took a quick glance over my shoulder. There was no one in sight.

How sure was it that no one saw them both?

This is a very risky game I am playing.

I need to get the boys out of this side of town or I will be the talk of town once more.

I could almost imagine people pointing fingers at me and calling me names...

The last thing I wanted was to face anyone demanding an explanation about my kids...

And I didn't want to risk being away from them either...

She wasn' t disgraced; she was radiant, holding a little boy, Leo, who giggled in Ivan' s arms. I overheard their conversation: Leo was their son, and I was merely a "placeholder," a means to an end until Ivan no longer needed my family's connections. My parents, the Donovans, were in on it, funding Kiera' s lavish life and their secret family. My entire reality-the loving parents, the devoted fiancé, the security I thought I' d found-was a carefully constructed stage, and I was the fool playing the lead role.
