Chapter 12

Chapter (12)

~ Somewhere in California ~

An Underground Club

Deep beneath the surface, hidden from the world, lay a secret chamber drowned in shadows and silence.

At the center of the dimly lit room stood a massive iron throne, dark and imposing. It was set within a glowing red orb that pulsed faintly like a living heart. Engraved into the throne was a menacing skull, its hollow eyes seeming to watch every movement.

On both sides of the throne were rows of chairs arranged in perfect lines-each one occupied.

Men cloaked in black stood before them, their identities hidden behind cold, expressionless masks. Their garments bore a striking difference-each cloak had a red slit running down the sides, marking their rank beneath their leader.

At the center, before the throne, stood a man draped in darker shadows than the rest.

Rings adorned his fingers-heavy, gleaming, dangerous.

His mask concealed his face, but his presence alone was enough to command fear.

He was known by one name.

Devil.

Though the members hid their identities from one another, there was one truth they could not escape- Their leader knew them all.

Every single one.

"I heard your assassin was caught."

His voice echoed through the chamber, low and lethal.

Silence fell instantly.

One man stepped forward from the line. His movements were stiff, cautious. He bowed deeply, his head lowered.

"Yes, my lord... but I assure you, he won't speak of me to anyone." His voice trembled.

Devil tilted his head slightly, as if amused.

"And how can you be so sure?" he asked softly. "There is one thing humans fail to understand... or perhaps choose to ignore."

He took a slow step forward.

"In the face of death... anyone can confess to anything."

The man visibly shook.

"So tell me..." Devil continued, his tone sharpening, "how am I supposed to trust you... and your assassin?"

"You can trust me, my lord. Please..." the man begged, bowing again.

A low chuckle escaped Devil's lips.

"We all know the rules guiding this club," he said coldly. "The devil does not give second chances."

A pause.

"If you make a mistake... you die."

The air turned suffocating.

With a simple nod of his head, his right-hand man stepped forward.

Execute.

He placed a small, round blue candy into the trembling man's hand.

"You are to eat this."

The man hesitated-just for a second.

Then, under the weight of Devil's gaze, he swallowed it.

Slowly and Carefully.

As if his life depended on it- Because it did.

"Your fate is in your hands now," Devil said with a chilling laugh. "Return to your position."

The man staggered back into line.

"You are all dismissed."

Without another word, the members filed out of the chamber, one after the other, until only two figures remained.

Devil and Execute.

The silence that followed was heavier than before.

Devil turned slightly.

"How is it going with the girl?" Execute bowed.

"Nothing unusual, boss. My assistant is watching her closely. There's no need for concern."

"And her father?"

"We're monitoring him as well. Any suspicious move... and we act."

A slow, dangerous smile crept beneath Devil's mask. "Good."

His fingers curled slightly against the arm of his throne.

"Soon enough, we will carry out our plan."

His voice dropped into a growl.

"No one messes with me... and walks away."

The Next Day

Morning came gently.

Claudia woke up, refreshed, and began her routine. After taking a bath, she carefully applied her skincare, her movements calm and practiced.

With her bag slung over her shoulder, she set out to locate her class.

The school buzzed with life as usual-but something caught her attention.

A girl Cornered by three students who stood before her-two boys and a girl Bullying her.

Claudia paused.

At first, she intended to ignore it. Not her business.

But then, She sighed she hated bullies.

Stepping forward, she grabbed the girl's arm and gently pulled her behind her.

"You're not going to bully her again," Claudia said firmly. "Not on my watch."

"And who the hell do you think you are?" one of the boys snapped.

"Mind your business!" the girl added sharply.

Claudia smirked. "And what if I don't?" Her eyes locked onto theirs-fearless, daring.

Two boys and a girl, Not bad. She thought

One of the boys lunged forward, attempting to grab the victim.

Big mistake.

In a swift motion, Claudia lifted her leg-

THUD!

Her kick sent him crashing to the ground, unconscious before he even realized what happened.

Lowering her leg calmly, she adjusted her dress like nothing had happened.

"Anybody else?"

The remaining two froze.

Shock and fear invisible in their eyes before Recognition crept in hitting them instantly.

She was the girl... The one who beat Tina, Even Bianca.

Her videos were everywhere on the school blog.

Oh hell.

"Not coming?" Claudia teased, flexing her arm playfully. "Scared?"

That was all it took.

They ran away Fast.

"Thank you," the girl said, her voice filled with relief.

Claudia turned to her with a small smile. "You're welcome. What's your name?"

"Ava."

"Nice to meet you."

Ava waved before hurrying off toward the Yellow Building.

Claudia watched her leave, feeling a sense of pride.

But then- something changed.

A strange feeling crept over her skin, cold and Unsettling.

She had felt it before ever since she arrived at this school.

The feeling of being watched

.

Her body went still. Slowly... carefully... She turned.

Nothing.

But- however she saw a fleeting shadow of a boy in a face cap running.

Her eyes narrowed.

So she wasn't imagining it.

The rest of the day passed smoothly with no drama, no worries and lastly no sign of Trevor.

And strangely- that bothered her.

She frowned slightly.

Why did she want to see him?

"Maybe because you miss him," her inner voice whispered.

She scoffed.

Please, Maybe she was just bored.

Yes.

That made more sense.

And Jasmine?

Something about him just didn't feel right.

Later that day, Claudia sat alone on a swing behind the Red Building, enjoying the cool air brushing against her skin.

Her thoughts drifted.

Was someone really stalking her?

Or was it just her imagination?

Or...

Her crush?

She rolled her eyes at herself.

Suddenly - A scent hit her

A scent rich and familiar... Tom Ford.

Her heart skipped.

There was only one person she knew who wore that.

Oh God.

In a flash, she snapped her head backward so fast it almost looked painful.

And there he was.

Trevor.

Dressed entirely in black, His hair slightly messy, as if he had run his fingers through it.

Looking Effortlessly and Dangerously

Breathtaking.

Standing right behind her.
