THE BILLIONAIRE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN HYBRID Novel Cover

THE BILLIONAIRE ALPHA'S FORBIDDEN HYBRID

"Stay away from me." "You're my mate, Emma. That stopped being an option the night you shifted." "I didn't ask for this." "And I didn't ask for a hybrid who can bring my entire world down." Emma Carter thought the worst thing about working for Daniel Blackwell was his cold, controlled arrogance. She did not know that the billionaire CEO she reports to is also the Alpha of the most powerful hidden wolf pack in the country. She did not know that the strange instincts she has fought her whole life are not anxiety, schizophrenia, or imagination. She did not know she was born illegal. When a violent attack forces her to shift for the first time, Emma discovers she is not fully human and not fully wolf. She is a hybrid, created in secret and marked for execution under a decades-old pack decree. The Council wants her contained. Rival factions want her captured. Someone inside Daniel's inner circle wants her to be used as proof that the old order should fall. Daniel should hand her over to protect his pack. Instead, he chooses her, risking civil war and the collapse of everything he built. As enemies close in and buried truths about her mother's research surface, Emma's power begins to evolve beyond anything the wolves have ever seen. The mate bond between them is real, but so are the lies that shaped it. In a world that survives on dominance and bloodlines, Emma may be the one thing it cannot control.

Chapter 6

DANIEL'SPOV

I pressed the gas pedal of my car all the way to the floorboards, and the heavy luxury vehicle accelerated violently down the wet city streets. Although the rain was falling heavily against the glass windshield, I easily spotted the two men standing near the entrance of Emma's apartment building because they were deliberately standing in the unlit sections of the sidewalk. They were wearing dark tactical clothing to avoid drawing any attention from the mundane human residents who were currently cooking their evening meals, washing their dirty dishes, and watching television safely behind the brick walls of the complex. Because I knew exactly what those rival pack spotters were doing, I did not bother looking for a legal parking space or turning off the engine. I slammed my foot onto the brake pedal, and the tires screeched loudly against the asphalt while the car drifted to a complete halt directly in front of the main glass doors.

Before the two spotters could even register my sudden arrival, I pushed the heavy car door open and stepped out into the freezing rain. My wolf pushed directly to the physical surface of my body, so my fingernails elongated into thick, sharp claws and my canine teeth extended past my bottom lip. The two men reached inside their dark jackets to pull out their metal firearms, but I moved much faster than their standard reflexes allowed. I grabbed the first man by the collar of his waterproof jacket and threw him forcefully into the side of my idling car, whereas I struck the second man directly in the center of his chest to incapacitate him immediately. I did not waste any time interrogating them because I desperately needed to reach the fourth floor, so I walked up to the locked security door and simply tore the metal frame right out of the brick wall with my bare hands.

As I stepped into the brightly lit lobby of the residential building, the mundane smell of lemon floor cleaner and wet wool coats filled my nose. However, a much darker scent quickly overpowered the normal odors of the apartment complex. The distinct, bitter smell of fresh blood drifted down the enclosed stairwell, and the sudden realization that Emma might be severely injured triggered a massive surge of pure Alpha rage inside my biological system. I bypassed the slow mechanical elevator entirely and ran up the concrete stairs, taking three steps at a time to reach her floor as quickly as possible. The scent of spilled blood grew incredibly strong by the time I reached the third-floor landing, yet the fluid did not smell sweet or metallic like the unique hybrid scent I had memorized earlier in my office. The blood belonged exclusively to the rival pack members, which meant my mate was actively fighting back against her attackers.

When I finally breached the fire door leading to the fourth-floor hallway, I found a scene of absolute physical chaos. Three heavily armed men were struggling to push their way into Emma's apartment, and they were shouting aggressively at each other over the loud noise of breaking wood.

"Get the silver chains around her wrists right now, or the Boss is going to execute us all for failing this mission!" one of the men yelled frantically, pushing his companion toward the ruined doorway.

"She is entirely too strong, and she just snapped Miller's arm in half!" the second man screamed back in absolute panic while clutching a bleeding wound on his shoulder.

"You are all going to die right here in this hallway," I announced loudly, projecting my deep Alpha voice down the narrow corridor so the men would immediately turn their attention toward me instead of the apartment.

The three intruders spun around in complete shock, and their eyes widened with genuine physical terror when they recognized my glowing silver irises. They raised their rifles to shoot me, but I closed the physical distance between us before they could pull the metal triggers. I grabbed the closest man by the throat and squeezed my fingers tightly until he dropped his heavy weapon onto the carpeted floor. I tossed his unconscious body aside, grabbed the second man by his tactical vest, and threw him forcefully into the opposite wall. The third man tried to swing a long silver blade at my face, but I easily dodged the clumsy attack, grabbed his wrist, and twisted his arm until the weapon clattered uselessly to the ground. I pushed him away and kicked his body down the stairs, leaving the hallway completely clear of any immediate threats.

Since the path was finally secure, I stepped cautiously through the wooden debris of Emma's shattered front door and entered her living room. I fully expected to find a terrified human woman hiding behind the furniture, yet the visual scene inside the apartment caused me to stop walking entirely. Emma was standing in the center of the dimly lit room, but she was no longer the small, fragile financial analyst who had visited my office earlier that evening. Her body had undergone a massive biological shift, so her muscles were visibly expanded under her torn clothing, and her hands ended in lethal, bloodstained claws. Her eyes glowed with a terrifying violet light, and she was panting heavily while staring at the empty doorway.

"Emma, you need to calm down right now because the immediate threat is neutralized," I said carefully, keeping my hands raised in a non-threatening gesture as I stepped further into the room.

She did not see a savior when she looked at me, nor did she recognize the CEO of the company where she worked every single day. She only saw another large male predator invading her private territory, and her biological survival instincts completely eclipsed her rational human thought. She released a deafening, unnatural roar and lunged directly at my chest with her claws fully extended.

I refused to strike her back or use my own claws to defend myself because I absolutely could not risk hurting my mate. Instead, I braced my legs against the floorboards and absorbed the immense physical impact of her body crashing into mine. She collided with my chest with extreme kinetic force, and we both stumbled backward until my shoulders slammed forcefully against the painted drywall of her living room. She slashed her claws across my arms, tearing through the fabric of my expensive shirt and drawing deep lines of blood across my skin, while she snapped her teeth aggressively near my throat.

"Let go of me right now, or I will tear your heart out of your chest!" she screamed, her vocal cords producing a terrifying blend of human speech and animalistic fury.

Because she was entirely consumed by her defensive panic, I realized I could not reason with her human mind through normal conversation. I grabbed her wrists firmly with both of my hands, twisted my hips to reverse our physical positions, and forcefully pinned her back against the nearest wall to stop her from attacking me again. She kicked my legs and thrashed her head from side to side, fighting me with an unbelievable amount of raw physical strength.

"I cannot help you unless you stop fighting me," I stated loudly over the sound of her growling.

I leaned my face very close to hers, allowed the silver light of my Alpha wolf to flare brightly in my eyes, and utilized every single ounce of supernatural authority I possessed to anchor her fractured mind.

"Look at me, Emma, and listen to my voice because I am not them," I commanded firmly, holding her struggling body securely against the plaster while my heart pounded violently against my ribs. "I am your mate, and you are going to tell me exactly what we need to do next."
