Chapter 4

The man looked at him and laughed. "Who the hell do you think you are?" Before he could speak further, Carson's men arrived and surrounded them. There were six of them, while Arnold only had two men; he was clearly outnumbered. Mr. Arnold knew he couldn't win this battle, so he motioned for his men to release the girl. He walked up to Carson.

"Sir, can you please tell me who you are and why you are targeting us?" Since he couldn't defeat his enemy now, he could only try to know his identity so he could be able to take revenge in the future.

"You want to know why I am? Do you think you have the qualifications?" He mocked. Arnold gritted his teeth; he had never been disgraced like this before, not even once.

Laura, who was under the effect of the substance, rubbed her hands around his body and tried to kiss him. Carson was embarrassed and tried to pull her away, but she was persistent.

He sighed and carried her princess style to the room he was staying in. He ordered his men to go and find something that could cool her.

When he tried to lay her on the bed, she had already turned most of her clothes; he swallowed, staring at her half-naked body. He could feel a movement in his lower body; he quickly tried to forcefully suppress it, just as he was about to suppress it, she threw herself at him.

The next morning, Laura woke up with a slight headache; she looked around the unfamiliar room. It was then she noticed a man lying beside her.

"Jesus!" She shouted and tried to cover herself with the heavy bedsheet. Carson was amused. "What happened?"

"You don't remember? You were drugged by that plump man, and I was only trying to help you, but you forced yourself on me, causing the situation."

Hearing his explanation, she vaguely remembered being drugged by Arnold; she couldn't remember what happened after. "Then how did I end up in this room?"

He shrugged, "what do you expect me to do? I don't know where you live, and you are in that state, and it happened that I had a room here."

She was silent while thinking it through. "I will be in the washroom now; if you like, you can come with me." He laughed. She ignored him. She seems to remember something.

"Wait, aren't you the poor guy that duped me the other day?" She said all of a sudden. Carson paused; his face was all red. He didn't admit it and hurriedly rushed to the washroom.

This time she was speechless. How is it that she ended up with this pauper who takes advantage of women? Why does she have such rotten luck? A few minutes later, he was out of the washroom; a towel was wrapped around his lower body, and his upper body was completely naked.

She swallowed; he was like a Greek god; his abs and six-packs were all eye-catching, coupled with his handsome face, she couldn't help but stare. Carson laughed at her funny expression.

"Do you want to go for another round?" He joked. She snapped out of her trance immediately. It was very rude staring at a man's body like this, and it's even suggesting. She hurriedly grabbed her clothes and rushed to the washroom.

She prayed that he would be gone before she came out. She didn't know how to face him again. Twenty minutes later, she was done washing and wrapped herself in a clean pink towel. She looked at the pieces of clothing she wore yesterday, which were now a rag.

What was she going to wear now? She peeked inside the room and saw that no one was around. Has he left? She thought. Quietly she tiptoed inside the room to make sure no one was around. She heaved a sigh when she saw that he had left.

A clean set of female clothes and new underwear were lying on the bed. The man was very thoughtful; she put on the clothes before picking up a business card that was kept beside the clothes.

"He left his business card; a pauper like him, what could he possibly do with a business card..." She froze. The card read. "Carson Grey, CEO and founder of Golden Hill groups." Golden Hill groups; she wasn't unfamiliar with the name. It was one of the top companies in the country, and the owner was said to be the heir of the powerful Grey family, a very well-known family and also the owners of Grey groups, an internationally renowned company.

"Are you trying to pull my legs, Laura? You can't joke with such cases." Anna scolded. It was afternoon, and Laura had already left the hotel long ago; she was now sitting in her room with Anna narrating her ordeals.

Anna was a blonde-haired beauty; she had a baby face, and it could be easy to mistake her as a high schooler.

"You don't believe me, see for yourself." She gave her Carson's business card. She read it carefully before looking at me in shock.

"I think you hit the jackpot, Laura." She exclaimed.

"Stop talking trash." Laura scolded. Anna laughed.

Knock! knock!

Someone knocked on the door; the two women glanced at the door, thinking who would be knocking.

"I will go and get the door." Anna stood up. She opened the door and was surprised to see a delivery boy standing in front of the door. He held a huge package.

"Are you Mrs. Laura Edward?" He asked. "No, but she lives here, Laura came here, it seems like you have a package." Anna called.

Laura stood up and was surprised to see the delivery guy holding a huge package. "Who sent this?" She asked curiously.

"I am sorry, the customer requested that his identity be kept confidential." He politely refused. She nodded in understanding and signed the package. Anna opened the package immediately.

"Jeez! Laura, when did you get yourself a rich sugar daddy? This is the designer gown I always dreamed about. Oh my God Laura, my dream is now your reality." She exclaimed.

Laura didn't hear her; she was trying to figure out who sent those packages. Just as she was thinking, her phone rang.

For three years, June played the perfect, submissive wife to billionaire Augustus Pruitt, hoping a child would finally warm his cold heart and secure their marriage. But when she cautiously suggested they have a baby, he looked at her with pure, unfiltered disgust. "A woman who schemes her way into a marriage doesn't get to carry my blood." He sneered, leaving immediately to lavish his mistress with diamonds. The nightmare only escalated from there. Augustus bought the one painting June desperately wanted—a piece she had secretly created herself—just to gift it to his mistress. He publicly outbid June at the gallery, mocking her lack of wealth, and left her to collapse in the freezing rain. When the storm gave her a severe 104-degree fever and she nearly died on their staircase, he didn't even stay by her hospital bed. Instead, he sent an assistant with a box of jewelry to buy her silence, then forced her to attend a family dinner where his mother and sister viciously mocked her barren womb and background. Looking at Augustus, who sat there casually cutting his steak while his family tore her apart, the last flicker of hope in June's chest sputtered and died. She finally understood that her three years of bleeding devotion were nothing but a pathetic joke to them. She dropped her silverware, the sharp clatter silencing the entire room. She wasn't going to be their punching bag anymore. It was time to finalize the divorce papers, reclaim her hidden identity as the world-renowned artist 'mr.sun', and make them all regret it.
