Chapter 2

Caityln's pov.

Mason can't divorce me, where will I go? I have no home, no family whatsoever. After my parents died in the tragic road accident that has left me scarred till date, I have been to three orphanages who were only able to keep me until I was eighteen. Thankfully, I met Mason before I was kicked out, he was my heartthrob, we fell so deeply in love and he gave me a home in his house.

We got married shortly after, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, well, until now. If he decides to leave me, I'll be out on the streets! I know, I should have some money saved from my job as a secretary but I only just started a month ago, I haven't been able to save anything.

"Think about this Mason, do you really want to do this?" I asked in tears, hoping that he would rephrase his statement. I know he cheats on me, I know our love isn't what it used to be, but I don't have anyone except him.

"There is really nothing to think about Caitlyn," he wrapped another blanket around his waist, getting out of bed after planting a kiss on the lips of the whore sitting beside him. I boiled in fury.

"I have made my decision. This marriage isn't what it used to be, we both know it's not going anywhere so let's just end it." He continues, breaking my heart even more.

"No.." my breath almost seizes, "Mason, please don't do this. Where do you want me to go?"

"Anywhere you like, I really couldn't care less. But my lawyer will be here first thing in the morning, and you must sign those papers. Don't worry," he doesn't just stop there. "I'm going to give you some money, perhaps you can start your pathetic life all over again. I know you need the money, that's why I'm being kind." He mocked me, gloating in my face.

My fists tighten as I glare at him, wondering what he actually takes me for.

"I don't need your filthy money." I mutter.

"Don't be ridiculous, we both know you wouldn't last a day without me providing for your every need, that is why I have decided to be kind enough to help you out with something to start your life with."

The bitch on the bed snickered, and my eyes sting from the tears that I have been holding back.

"I will not give you the luxury of making fun of me." I said and left the room without word. I was afraid that if stayed there any longer, I might burst from anger and pain.

Two years of marriage is about to be lost! I thought I was married to the love of my life, but he turned out to be a mummy's boy who let his mother's hatred for me win him over. If this is what he wants, then that's fine. I will live on the streets until I have gathered enough money to rent an apartment at least.

I couldn't sleep a wink that night, not with the weight of impending doom looming over me. I sat in the living room all night, listening to the moans coming from Mason's room until dawn.

The sound of the doorbell caused me to jolt back to reality, my eyes turning to the front door. I wondered if it was Mason's lawyer, and I was right. He came downstairs, all dressed up and excited, his mistress trotting behind him as he walked to the front door.

They each glanced at me, and I thought it was mostly because I looked a mess. My hair was all messy and my eyes were heavy as a result of all the tears I shed last night. Why does this feel like the end for me? Why can't I find the courage that I need at this time?

All I have known all my life is pain, orphaned at the age of six and having to face the numerous bullies at the orphanage schools. It was hell, I thought my life would get better, but it's only becoming worse.

"Good morning." Mason greeted, inviting the smartly dressed, middle aged man into the house and leading him to the couch. They all sat down in front of me and I watched in anticipation.

"Good morning, Mrs Borne." The lawyer spoke to me. I couldn't say a word.

"I am Mr Borne's attorney, and I will be handling your divorce case. Here are the papers which you are required to sign immediately, then.."

"Where should I sign?" I asked without hesitation, keeping a straight face. They glanced at each other before he opened the page for me to sign.

I picked up the pen and signed on it, my hands shaking and my lips quivering.

"Thank you." The attorney stated, looking surprised. Mason was equally shocked, he wanted to see me breakdown and beg him again, but I will not let him mess with me again. I am hurt, devasted in fact, but he doesn't deserve to know that.

"I will work on the alimony and..."

"I don't want anything. I want absolutely nothing to do with this man here. Keep your money to yourself Mason, I will leave your life." I snapped, getting to my feet in rage.

"Where are you going?" Mason asked.

"I'm leaving of course, I'm going to take my bags and I'm leaving you for good. Isn't that what you wanted?" I asked but he scoffed.

I ignored him and went upstairs, going to the room to pack up everything that belonged to me. I still had to go to work that morning, so I took a quick shower, dressed up and left with my bags without looking back. I hope my paths never cross with Mason's ever again.

I took a taxi to the office with all of my stuff. I had no idea where I was going to keep them or where I was going to stay after work today. Maybe I shouldn't have rejected that money after all.

Fuck..!

"Good morning Caitlyn," the receptionist greeted with a smile as I walked over to the desk to log in for the day. She stared at my baggage and gave me a questioning look.

"Good morning Laura. Can I keep these with you until later? Please." I pleaded and she nodded.

"Sure you can, but why do you have all these? Are you making a trip?"

"Something like that." I chuckled nervously.

"Alright then," she sighed, not wanting to pry. "Have a nice day."

I thanked her before leaving for my office in a hurry. I have a lot of work today and I have to get started.

.

"Caitlyn!!"

I jumped from my seat, my soul almost leaving my body as my boss's voice echoed out of nowhere. I ended up knocking over the files on my desk, and I tried to pick them up only to graze my elbow on the edge of the desk.

"Fuck.." I winced, getting up slowly.

"What is wrong with you?"

I looked up and found Zayn in front of me, his eyes red with fury. He must have been calling me for quite some time and I didn't hear. I have been so engrossed in my thoughts that I haven't been productive all day. It's almost closing time and I haven't gotten half of my work done.

"N-nothing boss, I'm fine."

"Then why the hell weren't you picking up the phone!? You fucking kept me waiting!" He thundered and I lowered my head in fear.

"I'm sorry sir, it won't happen again." I promised.

"It better not. Send me the Smith Incorporated file immediately." Everything about him screamed authority, I could'nt help but nod in affirmation and he took a short glance at me before entering his office.

I need to get it together, I can't risk losing my job as well.

Night approached quickly, I was unable to keep my emotions bottled in for much longer. Tears trickled down my face as I thought about what to do and where to go. Where would I spend the night?

I pulled out a small bottle of whiskey that I had with me and gulped it down at a go, almost killing myself in the process. I wanted to forget my pain, they say it helps. But it did nothing, my pain only became worse. Everyone had left the office, it was just my boss and I as usual, but I'm afraid I have nowhere to go if he asks me to leave.

Just as I expected, he came out of his office five minutes later, and our eyes met. I felt a tug in my heart as the tension in the atmosphere suddenly grew. I hid the bottle of whiskey- at least I thought I did.

"You're still here?"

Hearing his voice made my clit tingle, perhaps it's the effect of the alcohol.

"I.. I don't have anywhere to go." I muttered the truth, having no choice.

"So I was right?" He came closer, I wish he wouldn't, I don't know how long I can control myself.

"You are a homeless hippie."

"No sir. I am just a divorcee who has no home to go back to." Tears fell from my eyes. He raised his brow, almost in concern, but I knew better. Zayn doesn't care for anyone but himself.

"Just let me spend the night here." I sniffed. "I am in pain."

He came closer, too close for comfort, bending over right in front of me. His face was barely an inch away from mine, his warm breaths causing my knees to tremble. My breathing became heavier as I stared at his juicy, pink lips. The urge not to kiss them was hell to resist.

He raised his hand, brushing off the hair that fell on my face, and traced those calloused fingers of his to the back of my neck, nudging me closer. I was so fucking wet already, and I was fighting the electrifying feeling of being so close to him with all of my strength.

"How about I help you ease your pain?"

My defences weakened instantly.

I don't care anymore! Claim me now Zayn Morrison, do it now.
