Chapter 36

Alexander was beaming when she received a call from the maid she had been paying at the Carter mansion.

After discovering that Cyrus left work early to take his daughter Kiana to see a movie, she assumed that they would also be having dinner together at the restaurant. Since she knew where they were going, she decided to invite herself along for dinner once again.

She was parking her car in the parking lot when she spotted a familiar figure.

It seems like the alpha spotted her too because Knight stopped in his tracks the moment he saw her.

"Alexander Perez," Knight uttered the moment he recognized the alpha female who looked excited getting out of her car.

He also noticed that Cyrus’s fiancée or partner, Alex, has a cheap taste in cars.

She was not even driving a luxury car. Those little things just keep adding to his suspicion that Alex isn't exactly in the picture she's been trying to portray to the public.

The alpha stepped closer and greeted him.

They have not been introduced properly to each other but Alex was thrilled to know that the only son of the Prime Minister knows her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ashbourne. I didn't expect you to know my name." Alex flashed her sweetest smile as she extends her hand towards the pure blood alpha who was also undeniably gorgeous too.

Knight looked at the hand in front of him and he initially thought of ignoring it but since he was not raised that way, he accepted it.

"Of course, I know you, Miss Perez. How would I miss Mr. Cyrus’s fiancée when it's all over the news." Knight says while staring straight at her trying to gauge her reaction.

He also didn't let go of her hand just yet when he noticed Alex started to produce distressed pheromones.

"I didn't realize that the Prime Minister's son had taken an interest in other people's business and politics. I suppose I was mistaken," Alex said, forcing a smile. She attempted to retrieve her hand, but Knight's grip was firm. Since they were in the middle of the mall parking lot, where Cyrus and Kiana were present, she didn't want to cause a scene.

"I must admit, Miss Perez, I tend to refrain from meddling in the affairs of others, unless of course it concerns a certain Omega that we both know." Knight's voice was low yet distinct, causing Alex to feel a sudden wave of panic. It seemed as though the pure-blood knew something about their shared past that was better left buried.

"A-are you talking about Aria? What do I even….”

"Why didn't you tell your best friend that her daughter is still alive? Or rather I should ask, why did you tell Aria that her pup died three years ago?” Knight asked.

His eyes are bloody red because the guilty look on Alex’s face just confirms all his assumptions.

He already got the result of the investigation he did with Kiana and he already proved that she's Aria and Cyrus’s daughter but he still hasn't confirmed Alex’s involvement with the whole drama.

Alex gasps as she hears the accusation from the pure blood.

She wasn’t ready to admit anything yet but the way the pure blood squeezes her hand, she knows he wasn’t just throwing accusations without evidence.

She swallowed the lump in her throat as she forcefully pulled away from the pure blood.

"What are you talking about? Are you crazy? Why would I…”

"So you're telling me that your pup calls you Aunty Lexi?" Knight smirks when he finally catches the alpha's lie.

Alex opens her mouth only to close again when she realizes there's no way out of this.

So instead of denying what she did to her best friend three years ago, Alex decided to reveal the truth.

"Fine! So what are you gonna do about it? Are you going to tell your Omega that the world lied to her about her daughter?" Alex laughs bitterly when she sees the shocked reaction from the pure blood.

She realized that Knight and Cyrus have a lot of

things in common both of them are pure blood but despite the power and strength they both possessed.

They're both idiots who are slaved by Aria’s charm and she hates it so much.

"How could you even do that to your best friend? Hell, how could you separate a pup from her mother when you know that it could've killed them both?" Knight asked with wide eyes, remembering how his parents struggled when they lost his younger brother when he was just a baby.

Alex leaned closer to the pure blood just to taunt him.

"I had hoped they would both vanish from Cyrus’s life but you know what? They both Fucking survived and endured the pain of being separated from each other. Do you know how hard it was for me to take care of that little pup in front of her father only to wish she could vanish like her mother? They don't deserve Cyrus”

Alex said with an evil glint in her eyes.

Knight is beyond shocked upon hearing the revelation from the alpha female.

He could not believe that there were people like her, who would be willing to kill or covet someone else's life just to get her own.

"You're a monster," Knight murmured

He couldn’t believe that he got a confession from Alex herself.

"And you're going to be like me too. I know how much you want Aria for yourself.

I know you're digging into her past not to help her but for her to fall for you. Admit it, you want Aria as much as I want Cyrus. Why don't you work with me instead? I'll help you get Ria, just let me have Cyrus." Alex smirks when she sees the hesitation on Knight’s face.

Healing My Seven Broken Beast Mates Novel Cover
9.4
My retirement was finally approved, and I was supposed to be sipping drinks on a sunny beach. Instead, a cold system voice forced me into a nightmare scenario: "Cursed Mates Who Want Me Dead." I woke up in a stinking cave, trapped in the body of a psychopathic tribal princess. The memories that flooded my brain made me sick. The original owner of this body had forcibly marked seven of the continent's most powerful beast-men and reduced them to tortured pets. She had ripped the shimmering scales off Jordi the Merfolk prince, gouged out a proud wolf-man's power crystal, and snapped an eagle-man's magnificent wings. Now, Jordi was a mutilated, terrified mess hiding in a corner. He was so traumatized that he tried to slit his own throat just to escape me. His sister was actively trying to assassinate me. To make matters worse, the system warned me that if I didn't heal these seven ticking time bombs, my soul would be erased. Yet the future timeline clearly showed that these men would eventually unite, burn my tribe to the ground, and dismember me alive. I was paying for a monster's sins. Every time I tried to show mercy, they thought it was a sick new torture method. Words were useless, and my very presence was a trigger. But I am a Tier-S operative, and I don't play the victim. I forced the system to unlock my powers and strapped on my tactical gear. "Stay here and don't starve." I left the trembling Merfolk behind and walked into the deadly primitive forest, heading straight for the powerful Oasis Tribe to take back his stolen scales by force.

Ninety-Nine Times, Then No More Novel Cover
7.3
This was the ninety-ninth time I caught my husband, Chase Vargas, with another woman in our five-year marriage. I stood in the hotel doorway, numb, tired of the cheap perfume and his cold, familiar eyes. But this time, his mistress, a blonde woman, hissed, "He told me all about you. The pathetic wife he's stuck with because of some business deal. He said he can't stand the sight of you." Her words, meant to hurt, were things I already knew, things Chase had made sure I understood. Still, hearing them from a stranger felt like a new humiliation. She lunged, scratching my face, drawing blood. The sting was a surprising jolt in my numb world. I wrote her a check, a routine part of this pathetic scene. Then my phone rang. It was Chase, calling from across the room. "What are you doing? Are you making a scene? Clean it up and get out. You're embarrassing." He thought I had orchestrated this, that I was the embarrassing one. The betrayal was casual, complete. "I'm tired, Chase," I said, the words finally coming from a place I thought had died. "I want a divorce." He laughed, a cruel sound. "A divorce? Elena, don't be ridiculous. You love me too much to ever leave me." I hung up. He then handed me a signed divorce agreement, telling me his true love, June, my adopted sister, was back. He wanted me to play the dutiful wife for her welcome-home concert. My heart, which I thought had turned to stone, felt a final, crushing blow. He wasn't divorcing me because I wanted it. He was divorcing me for her. I signed the papers. The ninety-ninth time was the last time he would do this to me.
