Chapter 3

Dahlia didn't expect it would be Carter, her ex boyfriend who broke up with her for three years , saved her from this hell; Similarly, she didn't expect him to suddenly kiss her in this case.

She could feel her heart beating fast as soon as he covered her mouth with his lips. Dahlia felt her soul suddenly escape her when she felt his warm hold on her again. She can hear Carter's moan and heavy breathing while kissing her torridly.

Dahlia seemed to be slowly losing herself as his kiss got deeper and deeper. That was slow but deep. Slowly but surely. She can feel his hunger so she is.

That still hasn't changed – the way he kissed her still hasn't changed. It's still like a fire that burns. It is still like a deep-sea that is drowning. It can still take her and subdue her.

In an instant, Dahlia felt ashamed of herself especially when she heard the laughter of everyone there while watching them.

"See? What a dirty pretentious bitch!"

"I thought she's not Claireilable tonight? Fucking liar!"

"Looks like she still wants to get a wild bang."

The anger Dahlia felt intensified when she heard their various insults, especially what is happening now. Carter just saved her from one hell and pushed her to another.

Dahlia couldn't stop crying, but it seemed to make him more excited. The excitement she felt from the kiss by Carter was more dominant.

She lost herself, even more, when she felt his grip tighten on her waist as one of his hands went to her ass and touched it.

Carter stopped abruptly but still wouldn't let her go. She even felt a hangover when Carter slightly bit her lip. It looks like she even wants to chase his lip just because she got hung up!

"Your way of kissing is better than before, I almost got high, huh. Seems you haven't been short of men since you left me three years ago," Carter sarcastically whispered to Dahlia while flirtatiously rubbing the fluffy rabbit tail on her buttocks, it was full of insults.

In an instant, it was as if cold water had poured on her when she heard that.

Dahlia quickly pulled herself back from being caught in his kiss. She stepped on his foot with all her might and violently pushed him away from her. She could see the shock and pain in his eyes but before he could react, she quickly ran to the back lounge and didn't even have time to pick up her black high heels..

Damn you, Dahlia!

As soon as she got back to the lounge, she quickly took off her damn Bunny clothes and put on her jacket and skirt.

Dahlia tried to control herself not to think about that man, but it was all in vain.

This is the first time she has seen him in three years. He became more handsome and taller. But in the past, he always had a gentle smile on his face. Now, he seems to be cold.

He seemed angry. Especially from the kiss he gave her earlier, she could feel his intense anger there even though it was so delicious.

Why was he so angry? Why would he reappear in her life three years after he abandoned her to be engaged to someone else, giving her hope and depressing her?

Dahlia tried calming herself down but her heart pounded even more especially when she remembered the kiss he had given her earlier. Fantasy almost ate her into her brain while that was happening!

She almost jumped in panic when the door suddenly slammed and it spat out Olive who focused her gaze on her. There was still a small grin on her lips.

"Who is that? Why did you suddenly kiss? He's so handsome!" She blurted out. Dahlia's cheeks grew hot as he remembered what had happened again.

"I-I don't know him, Olive," she answered her without looking at her, and continued to put away her belongings.

Dahlia's previous feeling of tiredness got worse and she felt like she was going to get sick. She suddenly felt heavier. She was sure it's because of what happened earlier but she can't admit that to herself.

"Really? You don't know him but you've kissed earlier as if you were longing for each other for a long time. He also looks rich, you're really good at choosing!" She was sarcastic, so Dahlia was even more embarrassed.

When Carter kissed her, her mind told her to run away from him, but her body betrayed her.

Not knowing how to reply, Dahlia silently swept everything on her desk into her bag and zipped it up.

Then she turned to Olive. She frowned at her.

"Where are you going? You're going home?"

"I'm really not feeling well, Liv. Let's just talk tomorrow," she told her lazily and marched out. She even heard her call her but she didn't pay attention to that anymore.

Various emotions flowed through Dahlia as she walked towards the backdoor of the club while losing herself again.

This seemed to be a very long night to her. The only thing she wants to do now is to hurry home, throw herself into the bathtub, wash away all the disgusting and humiliating marks on her body, and then forget everything tonight, including that man.

As soon as she got out of the backdoor, a cold breeze greeted her.

Dahlia hugged herself more to the jacket she was wearing. It was quiet in that part so she could hear the pounding of her chest more. Especially when she sees who is waiting for her.

Carter was standing while leaning against the light pole that was there.

He was deadly and cold, staring at her as if he had been waiting for her since earlier. Again, Dahlia saw how he would look at her from head to toe. It seemed full of resentment and judgment.

She felt even more embarrassed because of the way he was staring at her. Strange anger covered his eyes.

Dahlia's heart pounded as she no longer knew what to do. She felt the trembling of her knees. She knew she wasn't ready to face him after so many years. She wasn't even prepared for it because she really had no intention of showing up to him.

Why did he suddenly appear here?

Carter smirked for a moment and their eyes met again.

"Where are you going? Trying to run away again like what you did three years ago?" He asked her coldly as if threatening.

Her heartbeat slowed. Her mouth opened but no word came out. She suddenly seemed to run out of sanity. The words suddenly seemed to escape from her mind.

Dahlia didn't know why, looking at him standing under the streetlamp, she seemed to see a monster crawling out of hell, roaring and screaming, trying to eat her body to complete revenge. This horrible imagination made her step back.

Almost at the same time, Carter also moved. He slowly walked closer to her while his eyes were fixed on her. His aura grew darker as he stared at her whole being.

"And do you think you can easily escape from me this time, my dear Dahlia Bloom?"

The passenger window bloomed into a spiderweb of cracks, and one razor-sharp sliver drew a searing, hot line across Amelia Hayes’s cheek. "Help me," she choked into the phone, but her husband, Ethan Caldwell, snapped: "Amelia, for God's sake, I'm in a meeting." A percussive blow, then a wave of encroaching silence. She awoke not on the hard-packed asphalt beside her car, but in her opulent master bedroom, the calendar marking three months after her wedding. Three months into a marriage that had already begun its slow work of killing her. Ethan stood by the window, his voice softening, "Yes, Jessica, tonight sounds perfect." Jessica Thorne, his true love, the shadow over Amelia's first life. The customary ache that had long occupied the space beneath her ribs did not flare, but rather receded, leaving behind a preternatural stillness—a silence so profound she could count the heavy, deliberate beats of the pulse in her wrist. For seven miserable years, she had given Ethan a desperate, unyielding devotion. She had endured his glacial distance, his brazen affairs, his emotional abuse, all for a flicker of his attention. She had become a shell, a caricature, ridiculed by Ethan's circle and condescended to by his family. The profound injustice, the sheer blindness of his indifference, was a bitter pill. The familiar, constricting tightness that had long defined her chest had vanished. In its place was a peculiar and unnerving lightness, as if some vital, heavy organ had been neatly excised, leaving behind a cavity that no longer knew how to ache. She recalled the final indignity from that first life: a vulgar scene at a gala involving Eleanor’s ashes. Ethan’s palm had struck her shoulder with such force that she stumbled two full steps backward; before her skull met the unyielding wall, she registered the faint, sickening pop of a vertebra in her own neck, his accusations echoing: "You are a disgrace." He comforted Jessica while Amelia's head reeled from the impact. That was the final insult. There were no tears, nor any tremor of rage. Her fingertips, which had so often trembled, now rested upon her knees with the weight and stillness of poured lead. She delivered a small velvet box to his penthouse. Inside: the wedding ring and a divorce decree. "I require you," she stated, her voice a thing of newfound clarity, "to be removed from my life. Permanently." She was reborn to be free.
