Chapter 6

My body is tingling, I turn feeling the soft material beneath me. I groan, stretching my palm out to rub the silky material.

Where am I? I sure as hell know my bed isn't this soft or comfortable.

A smile stretches my lips as I remember what happened to me last. I was attacked in my own home.

If that didn't feel satisfying then I don't know what else will.

I was killed in my home which means I finally get to live peacefully, no more worries.

Just live happily in heaven where God can't judge me because well, I didn't commit suicide.

I was killed.

Oh shit!!! Who did I offend that much to want to have my head? I am a very peaceful passive aggressive person, but that—

Doesn't matter, all my sins are placed on that person now, so I have free passage to heaven where I probably am right now.

The person can go eat dog shit, ion give a fuck. A little giggle leaves my lips still reeling in the fact that I am no longer alive.

Then suddenly my mind stray down to the fact that I was alone. I died alone.

No one cares. I had no one, my poor body would slowly rot in my former apartment.

People would only know I am dead either when my landlord comes for his rents or the neighbours are forced to come check the source of the terrible smell.

My life is sad, pathetic even.

I had no friends, the only person who remotely cared was Theresa, but we weren't so much friends.

She doesn't even know where I lived.

A stubborn tear slid down my still closed eyes, I wiped it aggressively. I refused to cry over something that didn't matter.

I am dead now, with no achievement, no family, no relationships.

I didn't have a best friend or a boyfriend or even a sister. No one who cared if I was healthy, and alive.

The reality that I dead a fucking loser hurt so much that I burst into tears.

“Are you kidding me?” a familiar voice growls in the background.

That voice is too familiar.

I jolt up, my eyes flying open only to be met with cold green eyes, chiseled jaw, and a permanent scowl.

Mr Giovanni Antonio.

There is no way he is in heaven with me is there? Wait, am I really in heaven?

“For someone that claims to be smart you are so stupid.” he growls, eyes glaring furiously at me.

I don't know my offence, like why does he hate me so much?

“Incompetent.” he murmurs, rubbing his forehead like just staring at me gave him a headache.

“Well, I don't know what you are doing here but you can leave now. You don't belong here.” I send a fake smile his way.

His brows arch up, his next words send me tumbling over the bed, “I belong here alright, because it's my house.”

My brows furrowed in confusion, if I am in his house then it means I am alive.

How did he find me?

I jump out of the soft bed, frantically looking about. The bed is black laced with thick black duvet, to the side there is a bedside table that is white.

The room is adorned with a floor to ceiling window with thick white curtains, two doors stand elegantly to the side.

Aside his curtains, and tables the room is pretty empty.

“How did I get here?” I ask, narrowing my eyes at him.

He must be the attacker.

“Gosh, why haven’t I fired her yet?” he murmurs under his breathe.

I know he isn’t speaking to me, yet I decide to answer. I mean we aren't at work anyway.

“Because I am fabulous, yes?” I flash my heart stopping smile while placing my hands on my hips.

His jaw tightens as he clenches his fist.

I am about to throw another snarky comment when I realise that I am indeed in my boss house.

The same boss who hates me, the same boss who makes work miserable for me.

Once again, how did I end up here? I vividly remember being hit then passing out.

I was at my house, so there was no way he could have found me unless he attacked me or he came…..

“Did you save me?” I gasps as my eyes widen in sheer horror.

It’s impossible.

“What makes you think I didn’t attack you.” he grunts, pressing his full eyebrows together.

His lips moves to the side, the only indication that he is actually human as the rest of his body is frigid while is face shows no emotion whatsoever.

“If you did, I wouldn't be on your bed now would I?” I grin cheekily, striding across the room towards him.

“I said you are in my house not my room stupid.” he growls, pulling himself away from the door.

He steps further into the room walking forward, I take an unconscious step back.

“And to answer your question. I saved you from the attacker, and brought you here. Your house isn’t safe anymore.” he says, rubbing his forehead as if to get rid of headache.

“What do you mean?” I ask, placing my ass back on the soft bed.

He walks towards the bedside table, sitting on it just a little. I turn around ao I can have a better view of his face as I speak.

“Why is my house no longer safe? It was just a break in, doesn’t mean the guy is going to come back.”

His fingers goes up to rub his growing stubble, when he speaks his voice his deeper “It wasn’t just a break in. It was deliberate, he wanted to kill you.”

What!!!!

Someone deliberately wants to kill me?

But, I have never offended anyone. I am very kind to people even when I want to kill them.

Yes, there was one time I poured dirt on a girl all because she insulted me or the other man I purposely spilled coffee on or the bicycle rider I busted his tires or..

Ok. I have done some pretty messy shits, but in my opinion I made all of those thing look like an accident.

They can’t possibly want to kill me for that or…

The blood drain from my face as I remembered him. The one man that promised to kill me at all cost.

I shake my head repeatedly, he is gone. He can’t find me, he will never find me.

“Are you done?” Mr Antonio sounds bored, his black wave falls over his eyes, he darts out his tongue over his pink lush lips.

“Seriously? Checking me out at a moment like this?” he barks, his eyes darken as he clenches his fist around the table.

“I was not.” I huff, folding my arms under my boobs making them puff out more.

He eyes darts down to my boobs, trailing down to my stomach then slowly to my exposed thighs.

I snap my legs shut, pulling my clothes down. I turn, glaring at him as I spit back his words to him, “Checking me out at a moment like this?”

He rolls his eyes, “He came after you because of me. Because you helped me in that alley.” he mumbles.

I fly out of the bed, running around to stand directly in front of me.

So he remembered? Yet he couldn’t say a simple thank you.

I almost thought it never happened, how could he be so ungrateful?

“YOU REMEMBERED!!!!!” I scream like a mad woman, my hands flying up in fury.

It happened so fast, his hand dash out gripping my neck tightly.

“Never. Raise. Your. Voice. At. Me. Again.” he growls, his green eyes going dark.

My breath hangs as his hands tighten around my throat, my fingers clawed furiously at his hand but that only seemed to fuel him more.

When I feel like I am going to die, he tosses me to the bed.

I gasps for air, desperately clawing at my throat to let air pass.

Tears spring up in my eyes, pouring down like rain as I cough loudly.

“Let that be your only warning.” he snaps.

I turn around in the bed, my body slides off landing like a sac of potatoes in the floor.

I can finally breathe properly, but the tears won’t stop flowing out. My body chills with a familiar feeling.

Fear.

“To save your miserable life you are moving in with me.”

“WHAT!!!!” I scream.

When I confronted him, expecting an apology, Craig didn't just dismiss me. He slapped me across the face in front of the city's elite, the sound echoing like a gunshot. He yanked the wedding ring off my finger, drawing blood, and placed it into Chanel’s palm, calling me a hysterical, barren relic. Later, I found the forged documents. He had signed my name to transfer every asset we built together into his sole possession, leaving me with nothing but a hush-money check. He thought I was just a scorned wife.
